Vibrating Particles System Algorithm for Solving Classification Problems

    Mohammad Wedyan1, Omar Elshaweesh2, Enas Ramadan3, Ryan Alturki4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 1189-1206, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.024210

Abstract Big data is a term that refers to a set of data that, due to its largeness or complexity, cannot be stored or processed with one of the usual tools or applications for data management, and it has become a prominent word in recent years for the massive development of technology. Almost immediately thereafter, the term “big data mining” emerged, i.e., mining from big data even as an emerging and interconnected field of research. Classification is an important stage in data mining since it helps people make better decisions in a variety of situations, including scientific endeavors, biomedical research, and… More >

Modeling Reliability Engineering Data Using Scale-Invariant Quasi-Inverse Lindley Model

    Mohamed Kayid*, Tareq Alsayed

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 1847-1860, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.025401

Abstract An important property that any lifetime model should satisfy is scale invariance. In this paper, a new scale-invariant quasi-inverse Lindley (QIL) model is presented and studied. Its basic properties, including moments, quantiles, skewness, kurtosis, and Lorenz curve, have been investigated. In addition, the well-known dynamic reliability measures, such as failure rate (FR), reversed failure rate (RFR), mean residual life (MRL), mean inactivity time (MIT), quantile residual life (QRL), and quantile inactivity time (QIT) are discussed. The FR function considers the decreasing or upside-down bathtub-shaped, and the MRL and median residual lifetime may have a bathtub-shaped form. The parameters of the… More >

    Dac-Nhuong Le1,2,3,*, Gia Nhu Nguyen2,4, Harish Garg5, Quyet-Thang Huynh6, Trinh Ngoc Bao7, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan8

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 993-1010, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012464

Abstract This paper presents a Game-theoretic optimization via Parallel MinMax Ant System (PMMAS) algorithm is used in practice to determine the Nash equilibrium value to resolve the confusion in choosing appropriate bidders of multi-round procurement problem in software project management. To this end, we introduce an approach that proposes: (i) A Game-theoretic model of multiround procurement problem (ii) A Nash equilibrium strategy corresponds to multi-round strategy bid (iii) An application of PSO for the determination of global Nash equilibrium. The balance point in Nash Equilibrium can help to maintain a sustainable structure not only in terms of project management but also… More >

Robust EM Algorithm for Iris Segmentation Based on Mixture of Gaussian Distribution

    Fatma Mallouli

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 243-248, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2019.100000069

Abstract Density estimation via Gaussian mixture modelling has been successfully applied to image segmentation. In this paper, we have learned distributions mixture model to the pixel of an iris image as training data. We introduce the proposed algorithm by adapting the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm. To further improve the accuracy for iris segmentation, we consider the EM algorithm in Markovian and non Markovian cases. Simulated data proves the accuracy of our algorithm. The proposed method is tested on a subset of the CASIA database by Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Automation-IrisTwins. The obtained results have shown a significant improvement of our… More >

Texture Segmentation based on Multivariate Generalized Gaussian Mixture Model

    K. Naveen Kumar1, K. Srinivasa Rao2, Y. Srinivas3, Ch. Satyanarayana4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.107, No.3, pp. 201-221, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.107.201

Abstract Texture Analysis is one of the prime considerations for image analysis and processing. Texture segmentation gained lot of importance due to its ready applicability in automation of scene identification and computer vision. Several texture segmentation methods have been developed and analysed with the assumption that the feature vector associated with the texture of the image region is modelled as Gaussian mixture model. Due to the limitations of the Gaussian model being meso kurtic, it may not characterise the texture of all image regions accurately. Hence in this paper, a texture segmentation algorithm is developed and analysed with the assumption that… More >

Detailed CVFEM Algorithm for Three Dimensional Advection-diffusion Problems

    E. Tombarević1, V. R. Voller2, I. Vušanović1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.96, No.1, pp. 1-29, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.096.001

Abstract The Control Volume Finite Element Method (CVFEM) combines the geometric flexibility of the Finite Element Method (FEM) with the physical intuition of the Control Volume Method (CVM). These two features of the CVFEM make it a very powerful tool for solving heat and fluid flow problems within complex domain geometries. In solving problems in the two-dimensional domains the development of the CVFEM has been well documented. For the three-dimensional problems, while there is extensive reporting on the details of the numerical approximation, there is relatively sparse information on important issues related to data structure and interpolation. Here, in the context… More >

Coupled PIEM/FEM Algorithm Based on Mindlin-Reissner Plate Theory for Bending Analysis of Plates with Through-Thickness Hole

    De-Shin Liu1, Chin-Yi Tu1, Cho-Liang Chung2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.92, No.6, pp. 573-594, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.092.573

Abstract The Infinite Element Method (IEM) is widely used for the analysis of elastostatic structures containing singularities. In the IEM method, the problem domain is partitioned into multiple element layers, where the stiffness matrix of each layer is similar to that of the other layers in the discretized domain. However, in Mindlin-Reissner plate theory, the stiffness matrix varies through the layers of the plate, and thus the conventional IEM algorithm cannot be applied. Accordingly, the present study proposes a Plate Infinite Element Method (PIEM) in which the element stiffness matrix is separated into two sub-matrices; each being similar to the equivalent… More >
