    Abstract Darwin’s finches are the most classic case of evolution. Early studies on the evolution of this species were mainly based on morphology. Until now, the mitochondrial genome of Geospiza magnirostris has been sequenced and the study explored the characteristics of the complete genome of G. magnirostris and verified the evolutionary position of it.     Abstract Cryptomeria fortunei (Chinese cedar) is a highly adaptable woody species and one of the main forest plantation trees in subtropical high-altitude areas in China. However, there are few studies on its chloroplast (cp) genome. In this study, the complete cp genome of C. fortunei was sequenced and evaluated via comparative analyses with those of related species (formerly the Taxodiaceae) in Cupressaceae.     Abstract This study examined the fine structures of epididymal spermatozoa on the lesser white-toothed shrew (Crocidura suaveolens), the Japanese white-toothed shrew (C. dsinezumi) and the big white-toothed shrew (C. lasiura) belonging to the subfamily Crocidurinae living in Korea.
    In the spermatozoa of C. suaveolens, the head has a large acrosome, a smooth inner acrosomal membrane and a wavy, finger-like, electron-dense apical body. The neck has a solid proximal centriole that is filled with electron-dense material.     Genetic diversity of water primrose (Ludwigia hyssopifolia) in Thailand based on morphological characters and RAPD analysis

    Abstract Genetic diversity and relatedness of 17 water primrose (Ludwigia hyssopifolia) accessions in Thailand were estimated using morphological characters and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. Eight morphological characters were diverse among the accessions. However, some accessions could not be distinguished from one another based on these morphological characters alone. Unweighted pair-group arithmetic average (UPGMA) analysis of these characters separated these 17 accessions into 2 major clusters.     Abstract Six mitochondrial (mtDNA) markers, cox2, ccmFn, ccb256, cox3, Nad4L-orf25, and atp4, were combined to assess genetic relationships by using Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Maximum parsimony (MP). This was done among nine Chinese Curcuma herbal species, included two rare species which are difficult to distinguish from their morphological characters.
