    Abstract Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract. The destruction of the intestinal epithelial barrier is one of the major pathological processes in IBD pathology. Growing evidence indicated that epithelial cell ferroptosis is linked to IBD and is considered a target process.
