    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.1, pp. 283-307, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.07842 - 01 April 2020

Abstract This paper performed flexural test and numerical simulation of clay-beams with different water contents to study the tensile fracture of clay soil and the relevant mechanisms. The crack initiation and propagation process and the accompanied strain localization behaviors were all clearly observed and analyzed. The exponential cohesive zone model was proposed to simulate the crack interface behavior of the cohesivefrictional materials. The experimental results show that the bending capacity of claybeams decrease with the water content, while those of the crack mouth opening displacement, crack-tip strain and the strain localization range increase. The numerical predictions More >

On the Onset of Cracks in Arteries1

    P. Mythravaruni, K.Y. Volokh*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.17, No.1, pp. 1-17, 2020, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07606

Abstract We present a theoretical approach to study the onset of failure localization into cracks in arterial wall. The arterial wall is a soft composite comprising hydrated ground matrix of proteoglycans reinforced by spatially dispersed elastin and collagen fibers. As any material, the arterial tissue cannot accumulate and dissipate strain energy beyond a critical value. This critical value is enforced in the constitutive theory via energy limiters. The limiters automatically bound reachable stresses and allow examining the mathematical condition of strong ellipticity. Loss of the strong ellipticity physically means inability of material to propagate superimposed waves.… More >

    Zengshan Tian1, Weiqin Yang1, Yue Jin1, Liangbo Xie1, *, Zhengwen Huang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 861-876, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07297

Abstract With the popularity of indoor wireless network, device-free indoor localization has attracted more and more attention. Unlike device-based localization where the target is required to carry an active transmitter, their frequent signal scanning consumes a large amount of energy, which is inconvenient for devices with limited energy. In this work, we propose the MFPL, device-free localization (DFL) system based on WiFi distance measurement. First, we combine multi-subcarrier characteristic of Channel State Information (CSI) with classical Fresnel reflection model to get the linear relationship between the change of the length of reflection path and the subcarrier… More >

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.1, pp. 25-36, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.04259

Abstract Ambisonics is a series of spatial sound reproduction system based on spatial harmonics decomposition and each order approximation of sound field. Ambisonics signals are originally intended for loudspeakers reproduction. By using head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) filters, binaural Ambisonics converts the Ambisonics signals for static or dynamic headphone reproduction. In present work, the performances of static and dynamic binaural Ambisonics reproduction are evaluated and compared. The mean binaural pressure errors across target source directions are first analyzed. Then a virtual source localization experiment is conducted, and the localization performances are evaluated by analyzing the percentages of More >

Binaural Sound Source Localization Based on Convolutional Neural Network

    Lin Zhou1,*, Kangyu Ma1, Lijie Wang1, Ying Chen1,2, Yibin Tang3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.2, pp. 545-557, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05969

Abstract Binaural sound source localization (BSSL) in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and high reverberation environment is still a challenging task. In this paper, a novel BSSL algorithm is proposed by introducing convolutional neural network (CNN). The proposed algorithm first extracts the spatial feature of each sub-band from binaural sound signal, and then combines the features of all sub-bands within one frame to assemble a two-dimensional feature matrix as a grey image. To fully exploit the advantage of the CNN in extracting high-level features from the grey image, the spatial feature matrix of each frame is used More >

    Jing Wang1,*, Xiaohe Qiu1, Yuanfei Tu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.1, pp. 227-244, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05281

Abstract The MDS-MAP (multidimensional scaling-MAP) localization algorithm utilize almost merely connectivity information, and therefore it is easy to implement in practice of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Anisotropic networks with energy hole, however, has blind communication spots that cause loss of information in the merging phase of MDSMAP. To enhance the positioning accuracy, the authors propose an MDS-MAP (CH) algorithm which can improve the clustering and merging strategy. In order to balance the effect of energy consumption and the network topology stabilization, we present a weighted clustering scheme, which considers the residual energy, the degree of connectivity More >
