Ergodic Capacity Evaluation of Multi-Hop Decode-and-Forward MIMO-OFDM Relaying Network

    Latif Jan1, Mohammad Haseeb Zafar1, Abdul Waheed2, Mahdi Zareei3, Faisal Alanazi4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3133-3145, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014857

Abstract Spatial diversity plays a significant role in wireless communication systems, including the Fourth Generation (4G) and Fifth Generation (5G) systems, and it is expected to be a fundamental part of the future wireless communication systems as well. The Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology, which is included in the IEEE 802.16j standard, still holds the most crucial position in the 4G spectrum as it promises to improve the throughput, capacity, spectral, and energy efficiency of wireless communication systems in the 2020s. This makes MIMO a viable technology for delay constrained medical and health care facilities. This paper presents an approximate closed-form expression… More >

Improved Hybrid Precoding Technique with Low-Resolution for MIMO-OFDM System

    Seulgi Lee1, Ji-Sung Jung1, Young-Hwan You2, Hyoung-Kyu Song1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 2205-2219, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017008

Abstract This paper proposes an improved hybrid beamforming system based on multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system. The proposed beamforming system improves energy efficiency compared to the conventional hybrid beamforming system. Both sub-connected and full-connected structure are considered to apply the proposed algorithm. In the conventional hybrid beamforming, the usage of radio frequency (RF) chains and phase shifter (PS) gives high power and hardware complexity. In this paper, the phase over sampling (POS) with switches (SW) is used in hybrid beamforming system to improve the energy efficiency. The POS-SW structure samples the value of analog beamformer to make lower… More >

Multi-Gigabit CO-OFDM System over SMF and MMF Links for 5G URLLC Backhaul Network

    Amir Haider1, MuhibUr Rahman2, Tayyaba Khan3, Muhammad Tabish Niaz1, Hyung Seok Kim1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1747-1758, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015611

Abstract The 5G cellular network aims at providing three major services: Massive machine-type communication (mMTC), ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), and enhanced-mobile-broadband (eMBB). Among these services, the URLLC and eMBB require strict end-to-end latency of 1 ms while maintaining 99.999% reliability, and availability of extremely high data rates for the users, respectively. One of the critical challenges in meeting these requirements is to upgrade the existing optical fiber backhaul network interconnecting the base stations with a multigigabit capacity, low latency and very high reliability system. To address this issue, we have numerically analyzed 100 Gbit/s coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM)… More >

Novel Universal Windowing Multicarrier Waveform for 5G Systems

    Ahmed Hammoodi1, Lukman Audah1,*, Montadar Abas Taher2, Mazin Abed Mohammed3, Mustafa S. Aljumaily4, Adeeb Salh1, Shipun A. Hamzah1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1523-1536, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014041

Abstract Fifth Generation (5G) systems aim to improve flexibility, coexistence and diverse service in several aspects to achieve the emerging applications requirements. Windowing and filtering of the traditional multicarrier waveforms are now considered common sense when designing more flexible waveforms. This paper proposed a Universal Windowing Multi-Carrier (UWMC) waveform design platform that is flexible, providing more easily coexists with different pulse shapes, and reduces the Out of Band Emissions (OOBE), which is generated by the traditional multicarrier methods that used in the previous generations of the mobile technology. The novel proposed approach is different from other approaches that have been proposed,… More >

    Intelligence-based Channel Equalization for 4x1 SFBC-OFDM Receiver

Divneet Singh Kapoor1,*, Amit Kumar Kohli2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 439-446, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.013920

Abstract This research paper represents an intelligent receiver based on the artificial-neuralnetworks (ANNs) for a 4x1 space-frequency-block-coded orthogonal-frequencydivision-multiplexing (SFBC-OFDM) system, working under slow time-varying frequency-selective fading channels. The proposed equalizer directly recovers transmitted symbols from the received signal, without the explicit requirement of the channel estimation. The ANN based equalizer is modelled by using feedforward as well as the recurrent neural-network (NN) architectures, and is trained using error backpropagation algorithms. The major focus is on efficiency and efficacy of three different strategies, namely the gradient-descent with momentum (GDM), resilient-propagation (RProp), and Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithms. The recurrent neural network architecture based SFBC-OFDM… More >

A Strategy of Signal Detection for Performance Improvement in Clipping Based OFDM System

    Jae-Hyun Ro1, Won-Seok Lee1, Min-Goo Kang2, Dae-Ki Hong3, Hyoung-Kyu Song1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.1, pp. 181-191, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09998

Abstract In this paper, the supervised Deep Neural Network (DNN) based signal detection is analyzed for combating with nonlinear distortions efficiently and improving error performances in clipping based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) ssystem. One of the main disadvantages for the OFDM is the high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The clipping is a simple method for the PAPR reduction. However, an effect of the clipping is nonlinear distortion, and estimations for transmitting symbols are difficult despite a Maximum Likelihood (ML) detection at the receiver. The DNN based online signal detection uses the offline learning model where all weights and… More >
