    Abstract The mixed salt stress is common in nature. Salt stress always affects plant growth. Different plant species have different adaptive capacity to salty soils. Leymus chinensis is an herbaceous plant with different leaf colors. However, little research was conducted to explore the different tolerance mechanisms to salt stress among the three different leaf colour genotypes of Leymus chinensis (grey green, transitional color, yellow green).     Colour, antioxidant capacity, phenolic and flavonoid content of honey from the Humid Chaco Region, Argentina

    Abstract Our objective was to correlate colour with total phenolic compounds, total flavonoids and antioxidant capacity of honey from the Humid Chaco region. With this purpose, 19 representative samples were selected from the 2009-2012 year period. Pollen analysis showed a predominance of native species of different landscapes such as forests and wetlands. Of the total number of samples, eleven were mixed or multifloral and eight samples were dominated by different native nectariferous woody species.     Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate the redox status changes of primary visual targets in the rat brain of a high pressure-induced glaucoma model. The animal model consisted of inducing ocular hypertension by cauterizing two episcleral veins on the left eye.     Abstract Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is one of the most Aluminum (Al) sensitive cereal species. In this study, the physiological, biochemical, and molecular response of barley seedlings to Al treatment was examined to gain insight into Al response and tolerance mechanisms. The results showed that superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activity were inhibited to different degrees following Al exposure. The MDA content also significantly increased with increasing Al concentrations.     Abstract Callus cultures of Annona muricata and Annona purpurea were induced in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with different concentrations of 1-naphthylacetic acid (NAA), 6-benzyladenine (BA) and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) utilized hypocotyls with explant. The highest percentage of callus formation was the treatment supplemented with 3 mg L-1 NAA for A. muricata (100%) while for A. purpurea in lower percentage (75%).     Abstract A barley mutant, 194, was observed to exhibit a leaf spot phenotype over the whole course of its growing period. In this study, the phenotype and antioxidant competence were studied in the lesion mimic mutant 194. Plant height was slightly higher in mutant 194 than in the wild type (WT).     Abstract Rice straw (RS) collected from Egyptian agricultural environment (Al-Masied village-Alsharqia Governorate-Egypt) was used as substrate for three fungal isolates namely: 4b, 1Asp, Pleurotus ostreatus NRRL 3501 and mixed culture of (4b, 1Asp). Isolates number 4b and 1Asp were identified using the molecular technique (18S rRNA). Isolate 4b and 1Asp, were identified as Trichoderma saturnisporum MN1-EGY and Aspergillus niger MN2-EGY, respectively. Trichoderma saturnisporum MN1-EGY extract exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity compared to the other fungal extracts.
