    Spectral Approaches for the Fast Computation of Yield Surfaces and First-Order Plastic Property Closures for Polycrystalline Materials with Cubic-Triclinic Textures

    Abstract In recent work, we have demonstrated the viability and computational advantages of DFT-based spectral databases for facilitating crystal plasticity solutions in face-centered cubic (fcc) metals subjected to arbitrary deformation paths. In this paper, we extend and validate the application of these novel ideas to body-centered cubic (bcc) metals that exhibit a much larger number of potential slip systems. It was observed that the databases for the bcc metals with a larger number of slip systems were more compact compared to those obtained previously for fcc metals with a smaller number of slip systems.     Nanobubbles at Water-Solid Interfaces: Calculation of the Contact Angle Based on a Simple Model

    Abstract Nanobubbles have been found to form at the interface of water and solid surfaces. We examine the conditions for such bubbles to form and estimate the pressure inside the bubble based on thermodynamic considerations. Using a simple model we calculate the contact angle for a wide range of temperatures and hypothetical substrates possessing a continuous range of strengths. We show that as the temperature increases the shape of a bubble changes continuously from a spherical cap with low curvature to a complete sphere.     Abstract This paper presents a formulation of hypo-elasticity based RC beam model with bond-slip. Details of the constitutive model and analysis method used are provided. A procedure has been described to carry out three-dimensional analysis considering both geometrical as well as material nonlinearity for a simply supported RC beam employing finite element technique, which uses 8-noded isoparametric hexahedral element HCiS18.     Abstract Bonding an overlay of new concrete onto the damaged concrete is a usual repair method. Because of the different shrinkage rate of the new and old concrete, restrained shrinkage cracks will appear in the new concrete. The cracks will reduce durability and strength of the repaired structure. A new repair method using an interface layer of carbon fiber reinforced cement mortar between new and old concrete was developed in this paper.     Abstract FEM-evaluation of imperfect transmission conditions has been performed for a modelling problem of an elastic structure with a thin intermediate interface.
