    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.1, pp. 227-247, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.047087

Abstract The RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks) protocol is essential for efficient communication within the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. Despite its significance, RPL’s susceptibility to attacks remains a concern. This paper presents a comprehensive simulation-based analysis of the RPL protocol’s vulnerability to the decreased rank attack in both static and mobile network environments. We employ the Random Direction Mobility Model (RDM) for mobile scenarios within the Cooja simulator. Our systematic evaluation focuses on critical performance metrics, including Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Average End to End Delay (AE2ED), throughput, Expected Transmission Count (ETX), and Average Power Consumption… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.12, pp. 2803-2818, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.042328

Abstract To solve the problem of residual wind power in offshore wind farms, a hydrogen production system with a reasonable capacity was configured to enhance the local load of wind farms and promote the local consumption of residual wind power. By studying the mathematical model of wind power output and calculating surplus wind power, as well as considering the hydrogen production/storage characteristics of the electrolyzer and hydrogen storage tank, an innovative capacity optimization allocation model was established. The objective of the model was to achieve the lowest total net present value over the entire life cycle. The model took into account… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.10, pp. 2141-2149, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.030853

Abstract The persistent global pandemic, COVID-19, stems from the pathogenic influence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), yielding an unprecedented worldwide crisis. With reference to a WHO report, the count of COVID-19 cases had exceeded 754 million by February 03, 2023. Intriguingly, emerging research has spotlighted the intricate interplay of gut microbiota and mitochondrial entities, acting as potent immunomodulatory factors at the cellular and molecular levels. This interconnection operates through a series of dynamic mechanisms. SARS-CoV-2 infection perturbs the delicate equilibrium of gut microbiota, leading to dysbiosis—a signature biomarker. This imbalance is intrinsically linked to exacerbated COVID-19 progression. Mechanistically,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 491-515, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.041108

Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) consists of interconnected smart devices communicating and collecting data. The Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is the standard protocol for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) in the IoT. However, RPL is vulnerable to various attacks, including the sinkhole attack, which disrupts the network by manipulating routing information. This paper proposes the Unweighted Voting Method (UVM) for sinkhole node identification, utilizing three key behavioral indicators: DODAG Information Object (DIO) Transaction Frequency, Rank Harmony, and Power Consumption. These indicators have been carefully selected based on their contribution to sinkhole attack detection and other relevant… More >

Collaborative Detection and Prevention of Sybil Attacks against RPL-Based Internet of Things

Muhammad Ali Khan1, Rao Naveed Bin Rais2,*, Osman Khalid1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 827-843, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040756

Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) comprises numerous resource-constrained devices that generate large volumes of data. The inherent vulnerabilities in IoT infrastructure, such as easily spoofed IP and MAC addresses, pose significant security challenges. Traditional routing protocols designed for wired or wireless networks may not be suitable for IoT networks due to their limitations. Therefore, the Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is widely used in IoT systems. However, the built-in security mechanism of RPL is inadequate in defending against sophisticated routing attacks, including Sybil attacks. To address these issues, this paper proposes a centralized and collaborative approach for… More >

Abstract Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a malignant tumor with high incidence worldwide. Triptolide (TP), extracted from Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F, exhibits potent broad-spectrum antitumor activity. Although some mechanisms through which TP inhibits NSCLC are well understood, those that involve ribosomal proteins remain yet to be understood. In this study, the transcriptome and proteome were integrated and analyzed. Our data indicated ribosomal protein L4 (RPL4) to be a core hub protein in the protein-protein interaction network. RPL4 is overexpressed in NSCLC tissues and cells. Transfection with siRPL4 or TP treatment alone arrested the cell cycle in the G1 phase, induced… More > Graphic Abstract

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.5, pp. 383-405, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2023.026885

Abstract With the development of multi-signal monitoring technology, the research on multiple signal analysis and processing has become a hot subject. Mechanical equipment often works under variable working conditions, and the acquired vibration signals are often non-stationary and nonlinear, which are difficult to be processed by traditional analysis methods. In order to solve the noise reduction problem of multiple signals under variable speed, a COT-DCS method combining the Computed Order Tracking (COT) based on Chirplet Path Pursuit (CPP) and Distributed Compressed Sensing (DCS) is proposed. Firstly, the instantaneous frequency (IF) is extracted by CPP, and the speed is obtained by fitting.… More > Graphic Abstract

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2981-3009, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035814

Abstract In bilingual translation, attention-based Neural Machine Translation (NMT) models are used to achieve synchrony between input and output sequences and the notion of alignment. NMT model has obtained state-of-the-art performance for several language pairs. However, there has been little work exploring useful architectures for Urdu-to-English machine translation. We conducted extensive Urdu-to-English translation experiments using Long short-term memory (LSTM)/Bidirectional recurrent neural networks (Bi-RNN)/Statistical recurrent unit (SRU)/Gated recurrent unit (GRU)/Convolutional neural network (CNN) and Transformer. Experimental results show that Bi-RNN and LSTM with attention mechanism trained iteratively, with a scalable data set, make precise predictions on unseen data. The trained models yielded… More >
