Abstract Graphene oxide (GO) as a new nano-enhancer in cement-based materials has gained wide attention. However, GO is easy to aggregate in alkaline cement mortar with poor dispersibility. This hinders its application in practical infrastructure construction. In this work, GO-M18 polycarboxylate compound superplasticizer (GM) were obtained by compounding the M18 polycarboxylate superplasticizer with GO solution at different mass ratios. The dispersion of GM in alkaline solution was systematically studied. The phases and functional groups of GM were characterized by XRD and FTIR. The effects of GM on the cement mortar hydration and the formation of microstructure were investigated by measuring the… More > Graphic Abstract

    Yadian Geng1, Junqing Li1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.1, pp. 241-266, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020307

Abstract To solve the distributed hybrid flow shop scheduling problem (DHFS) in raw glass manufacturing systems, we investigated an improved hyperplane assisted evolutionary algorithm (IhpaEA). Two objectives are simultaneously considered, namely, the maximum completion time and the total energy consumptions. Firstly, each solution is encoded by a three-dimensional vector, i.e., factory assignment, scheduling, and machine assignment. Subsequently, an efficient initialization strategy embeds two heuristics are developed, which can increase the diversity of the population. Then, to improve the global search abilities, a Pareto-based crossover operator is designed to take more advantage of non-dominated solutions. Furthermore, a local search heuristic based on… More >

    S. Jagir Hussain*, M. Roopa

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 785-801, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030393

Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) empowers imaginative applications and permits new services when mobile nodes are included. For IoT-enabled low-power and lossy networks (LLN), the Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks (RPL) has become an established standard routing protocol. Mobility under standard RPL remains a difficult issue as it causes continuous path disturbance, energy loss, and increases the end-to-end delay in the network. In this unique circumstance, a Balanced-load and Energy-efficient RPL (BE-RPL) is proposed. It is a routing technique that is both energy-efficient and mobility-aware. It responds quicker to link breakage through received signal strength-based mobility monitoring and selecting… More >

Abstract Forested areas are extremely vulnerable to disasters leading to environmental destruction. Forest Fire is one among them which requires immediate attention. There are lot of works done by authors where Wireless Sensors and IoT have been used for forest fire monitoring. So, towards monitoring the forest fire and managing the energy efficiently in IoT, Energy Efficient Routing Protocol for Low power lossy networks (E-RPL) was developed. There were challenges about the scalability of the network resulting in a large end-to-end delay and less packet delivery which led to the development of Aggregator-based Energy Efficient RPL with Data Compression (CAA-ERPL). Abstract Airline industry has witnessed a tremendous growth in the recent past. Percentage of people choosing air travel as first choice to commute is continuously increasing. Highly demanding and congested air routes are resulting in inadvertent delays, additional fuel consumption and high emission of greenhouse gases. Trajectory planning involves creation identification of cost-effective flight plans for optimal utilization of fuel and time. This situation warrants the need of an intelligent system for dynamic planning of optimized flight trajectories with least human intervention required. In this paper, an algorithm for dynamic planning of optimized flight trajectories has been proposed. The proposed algorithm… More >

LOA-RPL: Novel Energy-Efficient Routing Protocol for the Internet of Things Using Lion Optimization Algorithm to Maximize Network Lifetime

    Sankar Sennan1, Somula Ramasubbareddy2, Anand Nayyar3,4, Yunyoung Nam5,*, Mohamed Abouhawwash6,7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 351-371, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017360

Abstract Energy conservation is a significant task in the Internet of Things (IoT) because IoT involves highly resource-constrained devices. Clustering is an effective technique for saving energy by reducing duplicate data. In a clustering protocol, the selection of a cluster head (CH) plays a key role in prolonging the lifetime of a network. However, most cluster-based protocols, including routing protocols for low-power and lossy networks (RPLs), have used fuzzy logic and probabilistic approaches to select the CH node. Consequently, early battery depletion is produced near the sink. To overcome this issue, a lion optimization algorithm (LOA) for selecting CH in RPL… More >
