Isoliquiritigenin Inhibits Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Progression via Targeting the IRF5/SLC7A5/IDO1-Mediated Tryptophan Metabolism Pathway

    Sihai Duan1,2,#, Xiaoyan Li3,#, Cailu Song3, Song Wu3, Yunyun Tang3,4, Qing Bao3,4, Na Li3,*, Hailin Tang3,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.11, pp. 3543-3556, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.068292 - 22 October 2025

Abstract Objectives: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the breast cancer subtype with the poorest prognosis. This study aimed to elucidate the molecular pathways through which isoliquiritigenin (ISL), a natural chalcone compound derived from licorice and other plant roots, targets interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) in TNBC. Methods: TNBC cell lines were cultured and subjected to IRF5 knockdown using short hairpin RNA. Cell proliferation was assessed by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and colony formation assays. Western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were employed to measure expression levels of IRF5, solute carrier family… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.49, No.10, pp. 1947-1965, 2025, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2025.068926 - 22 October 2025

Abstract Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) typically begins inconspicuously and progresses swiftly, leading to most patients being diagnosed at an advanced stage. Accordingly, a pressing priority is to clarify the development mechanisms of HCC and devise efficient intervention and treatment protocols. Methods: An upstream miRNA of solute carrier transporter family 1 member 5 (SLC1A5) was predicted to be miR-122-5p by various databases, and a dual-luciferase reporter gene assay was used to verify the SLC1A5- and miR-122-5p-targeting relationship. SLC1A5 and miR-122-5p expression in HCC cells was quantitatively assessed using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT–PCR). Western blotting… More >

Solute carrier-related signature for assessing prognosis and immunity in patients with clear-cell renal cell carcinoma

    WEI BAO1,#, QIANGUANG HAN2,#, XIAO GUAN3, ZIJIE WANG2, MIN GU1,2,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 181-192, 2023, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.028051 - 10 April 2023

Abstract Background: Clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common malignant kidney cancer. However, the tumor microenvironment and crosstalk involved in metabolic reprogramming in ccRCC are not well-understood. Methods: We used The Cancer Genome Atlas to obtain ccRCC transcriptome data and clinical information. The E-MTAB-1980 cohort was used for external validation. The GENECARDS database contains the first 100 solute carrier (SLC)-related genes. The predictive value of SLC-related genes for ccRCC prognosis and treatment was assessed using univariate Cox regression analysis. An SLC-related predictive signature was developed through Lasso regression analysis and used to determine the risk… More >
