    Yujing Ma1,4, Zhongwang Wang2, Jieyuan Zhang3, Ruijin Huo1,4, Xiaohui Yuan1,4,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.140, No.2, pp. 2079-2102, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.048488 - 20 May 2024

Abstract In this paper, an adaptive polynomial chaos expansion method (PCE) based on the method of moments (MoM) is proposed to construct surrogate models for electromagnetic scattering and further sensitivity analysis. The MoM is applied to accurately solve the electric field integral equation (EFIE) of electromagnetic scattering from homogeneous dielectric targets. Within the bistatic radar cross section (RCS) as the research object, the adaptive PCE algorithm is devoted to selecting the appropriate order to construct the multivariate surrogate model. The corresponding sensitivity results are given by the further derivative operation, which is compared with those of More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 2505-2522, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.049898 - 15 May 2024

Abstract Brain–computer interface (BCI) systems, such as the P300 speller, enable patients to express intentions without necessitating extensive training. However, the complexity of operational instructions and the slow pace of character spelling pose challenges for some patients. In this paper, an image segmentation P300 selector based on YOLOv7-mask and DeepSORT is proposed. The proposed system utilizes a camera to capture real-world objects for classification and tracking. By applying predefined stimulation rules and object-specific masks, the proposed system triggers stimuli associated with the objects displayed on the screen, inducing the generation of P300 signals in the patient’s… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.5, pp. 771-792, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.048878 - 06 May 2024

Abstract Background: Ferroptosis, a lipid peroxidation-mediated programmed cell death, is closely linked to tumor development, including prostate cancer (PCa). Despite established connections between ferroptosis and PCa, a comprehensive investigation is essential for understanding its impact on patient prognosis. Methods: A risk model incorporating four ferroptosis-related genes was developed and validated. Elevated risk scores correlated with an increased likelihood of biochemical recurrence (BCR), diminished immune infiltration, and adverse clinicopathological characteristics. To corroborate these results, we performed validation analyses utilizing datasets from both the Cancer Genome Atlas Cohort (TCGA) and the Gene Expression Synthesis Cohort (GEO). Moreover, we conducted… More >

Securing Forwarding Layers from Eavesdropping Attacks Using Proactive Approaches

Jiajun Yan, Ying Zhou*, Anchen Dai, Tao Wang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.1, pp. 563-580, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.048922 - 25 April 2024

Abstract As an emerging network paradigm, the software-defined network (SDN) finds extensive application in areas such as smart grids, the Internet of Things (IoT), and edge computing. The forwarding layer in software-defined networks is susceptible to eavesdropping attacks. Route hopping is a moving target defense (MTD) technology that is frequently employed to resist eavesdropping attacks. In the traditional route hopping technology, both request and reply packets use the same hopping path. If an eavesdropping attacker monitors the nodes along this path, the risk of 100% data leakage becomes substantial. In this paper, we present an effective… More >

    A Layered Energy-Efficient Multi-Node Scheduling Mechanism for Large-Scale WSN

Xue Zhao, Shaojun Tao, Hongying Tang, Jiang Wang*, Baoqing Li*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.1, pp. 1335-1351, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.047996 - 25 April 2024

Abstract In recent years, target tracking has been considered one of the most important applications of wireless sensor network (WSN). Optimizing target tracking performance and prolonging network lifetime are two equally critical objectives in this scenario. The existing mechanisms still have weaknesses in balancing the two demands. The proposed heuristic multi-node collaborative scheduling mechanism (HMNCS) comprises cluster head (CH) election, pre-selection, and task set selection mechanisms, where the latter two kinds of selections form a two-layer selection mechanism. The CH election innovatively introduces the movement trend of the target and establishes a scoring mechanism to determine More >

Abstract Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is recognized as the most lethal and most highly invasive tumor. The high likelihood of treatment failure arises from the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and stem cells around GBM, which avert the entry of chemotherapeutic drugs into the tumor mass. Objective: Recently, several researchers have designed novel nanocarrier systems like liposomes, dendrimers, metallic nanoparticles, nanodiamonds, and nanorobot approaches, allowing drugs to infiltrate the BBB more efficiently, opening up innovative avenues to prevail over therapy problems and radiation therapy. Methods: Relevant literature for this manuscript has been collected from a comprehensive More > Graphic Abstract

A review on potential heterocycles for the treatment of glioblastoma targeting receptor tyrosine kinases

    NILAM BHUSARE, MAUSHMI KUMAR*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.5, pp. 849-875, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.047042 - 23 April 2024

Abstract Glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain tumor, poses significant challenges in terms of treatment success and patient survival. Current treatment modalities for glioblastoma include radiation therapy, surgical intervention, and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the median survival rate remains dishearteningly low at 12–15 months. One of the major obstacles in treating glioblastoma is the recurrence of tumors, making chemotherapy the primary approach for secondary glioma patients. However, the efficacy of drugs is hampered by the presence of the blood-brain barrier and multidrug resistance mechanisms. Consequently, considerable research efforts have been directed toward understanding the underlying signaling pathways… More > Graphic Abstract

    Targeting KRAS in pancreatic cancer

SANDRA STICKLER, BARBARA RATH, GERHARD HAMILTON*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.5, pp. 799-805, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.045356 - 23 April 2024

Abstract Pancreatic cancer has a dismal prognosis due to late detection and lack of efficient therapies. The Kirsten rat sarcoma virus (KRAS) oncogene is mutated in up to 90% of all pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) and constitutes an attractive target for therapy. However, the most common KRAS mutations in PDAC are G12D (44%), G12V (34%) and G12R (20%) that are not amenable to treatment by KRAS G12C-directed cysteine-reactive KRAS inhibitors such as Sotorasib and Adagrasib that exhibit clinical efficacy in lung cancer. KRAS G12C mutant pancreatic cancer has been treated with Sotorasib but this mutation is More >

Missing Value Imputation for Radar-Derived Time-Series Tracks of Aerial Targets Based on Improved Self-Attention-Based Network

Zihao Song, Yan Zhou*, Wei Cheng, Futai Liang, Chenhao Zhang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.3, pp. 3349-3376, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.047034 - 26 March 2024

Abstract The frequent missing values in radar-derived time-series tracks of aerial targets (RTT-AT) lead to significant challenges in subsequent data-driven tasks. However, the majority of imputation research focuses on random missing (RM) that differs significantly from common missing patterns of RTT-AT. The method for solving the RM may experience performance degradation or failure when applied to RTT-AT imputation. Conventional autoregressive deep learning methods are prone to error accumulation and long-term dependency loss. In this paper, a non-autoregressive imputation model that addresses the issue of missing value imputation for two common missing patterns in RTT-AT is proposed.… More >
