VvAGAMOUS Affect Development of Four Different Grape Species Ovary

    Pengfei Zhang1,#, Yuqin Zhang1,#, Qifeng Zhao2, Tiequan Niu1, Pengfei Wen1,*, Jinjun Liang1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.4, pp. 1125-1138, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.026227

Abstract Grape pistil has an important influence on fruit size and quality. However, there were few studies on grape ovary, and the development process of the ovary is still unclear. Therefore, in this paper, four different grape varieties with different lengths of small inflorescences, namely ‘Musct Hambourg’ grape (Vitis vinifera), ‘Concord’ grape (Vitis labrusca), ‘ShanPuTao’ grape (Vitis amurensis) and ‘GongNiang2Hao’ grape (Vitis amurensis × Vitis vinifera) were used as test materials. Four varieties ovary were significant differences by means of stereomicroscope, paraffin section. The expression of ovary determining gene VvAGAMOUS (VvAG) and its development related genes VvCRABS CLAW (VvCRC) and VvAGAMOUS-LIKE 11 … More >

Fast CU Partition for VVC Using Texture Complexity Classification Convolutional Neural Network

    Yue Zhang1,3,4, Pengyu Liu1,2,3,4,*, Xiaowei Jia5, Shanji Chen2, Tianyu Liu1,3,4, Chang Liu1,3,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 3545-3556, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028226

Abstract Versatile video coding (H.266/VVC), which was newly released by the Joint Video Exploration Team (JVET), introduces quad-tree plus multi-type tree (QTMT) partition structure on the basis of quad-tree (QT) partition structure in High Efficiency Video Coding (H.265/HEVC). More complicated coding unit (CU) partitioning processes in H.266/VVC significantly improve video compression efficiency, but greatly increase the computational complexity compared. The ultra-high encoding complexity has obstructed its real-time applications. In order to solve this problem, a CU partition algorithm using convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed in this paper to speed up the H.266/VVC CU partition process. Firstly, 64 × 64 CU… More >

Medical Image Compression Method Using Lightweight Multi-Layer Perceptron for Mobile Healthcare Applications

    Taesik Lee1, Dongsan Jun1,*, Sang-hyo Park2, Byung-Gyu Kim3, Jungil Yun4, Kugjin Yun4, Won-Sik Cheong4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 2013-2029, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019604

Abstract As video compression is one of the core technologies required to enable seamless medical data streaming in mobile healthcare applications, there is a need to develop powerful media codecs that can achieve minimum bitrates while maintaining high perceptual quality. Versatile Video Coding (VVC) is the latest video coding standard that can provide powerful coding performance with a similar visual quality compared to the previously developed method that is High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). In order to achieve this improved coding performance, VVC adopted various advanced coding tools, such as flexible Multi-type Tree (MTT) block structure which uses Binary Tree (BT)… More >

Suitability of VVC and HEVC for Video Telehealth Systems

    Muhammad Arslan Usman1,4,*, Muhammad Rehan Usman2, Rizwan Ali Naqvi3, Bernie Mcphilips4, Christopher Romeika4, Daniel Cunliffe4, Christos Politis1, Nada Philip1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 529-547, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014614

Abstract Video compression in medical video streaming is one of the key technologies associated with mobile healthcare. Seamless delivery of medical video streams over a resource constrained network emphasizes the need of a video codec that requires minimum bitrates and maintains high perceptual quality. This paper presents a comparative study between High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) and its potential successor Versatile Video Coding (VVC) in the context of healthcare. A large-scale subjective experiment comprising of twenty-four non-expert participants is presented for eight different test conditions in Full High Definition (FHD) videos. The presented analysis highlights the impact of compression artefacts on… More >
