Performance Improvement through Novel Adaptive Node and Container Aware Scheduler with Resource Availability Control in Hadoop YARN

    J. S. Manjaly, T. Subbulakshmi*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.3, pp. 3083-3108, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036320

Abstract The default scheduler of Apache Hadoop demonstrates operational inefficiencies when connecting external sources and processing transformation jobs. This paper has proposed a novel scheduler for enhancement of the performance of the Hadoop Yet Another Resource Negotiator (YARN) scheduler, called the Adaptive Node and Container Aware Scheduler (ANACRAC), that aligns cluster resources to the demands of the applications in the real world. The approach performs to leverage the user-provided configurations as a unique design to apportion nodes, or containers within the nodes, to application thresholds. Additionally, it provides the flexibility to the applications for selecting and choosing which node’s resources they… More >

Deep Neural Network with Strip Pooling for Image Classification of Yarn-Dyed Plaid Fabrics

    Xiaoting Zhang1, Weidong Gao2,*, Ruru Pan2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.3, pp. 1533-1546, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018763

Abstract Historically, yarn-dyed plaid fabrics (YDPFs) have enjoyed enduring popularity with many rich plaid patterns, but production data are still classified and searched only according to production parameters. The process does not satisfy the visual needs of sample order production, fabric design, and stock management. This study produced an image dataset for YDPFs, collected from 10,661 fabric samples. The authors believe that the dataset will have significant utility in further research into YDPFs. Convolutional neural networks, such as VGG, ResNet, and DenseNet, with different hyperparameter groups, seemed the most promising tools for the study. This paper reports on the authors’ exhaustive… More >

Modeling Additional Twists of Yarn Spun by Lateral Compact Spinning with Pneumatic Groove

    Jindan Lyu1, Longdi Cheng1,*, Bugao Xu2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.2, pp. 737-751, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015153

Abstract Compact spinning with pneumatic grooves is a spinning process to gather fibers by blended actions of airflow and mechanical forces. Modified from the ring spinning system, the lateral compact spinning with pneumatic grooves can improve yarn appearance and properties due to generated additional twists. In this study, we investigated additional twists of the lateral compact spinning with pneumatic grooves via a finite element (FE) method. An elastic thin rod was used to model a fiber to simulate its dynamic deformation in the three-dimensional space, and the space bar unit was used to simplify the fiber model for the dynamic analysis.… More >

A Generalized FEM Model for Fiber Structural and Mechanical Performance in Fabrication of Slender Yarn Structures

Sheng Yan Li1, Bin Gang Xu1,2, Xiao Ming Tao1, Hong Hu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 33-56, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.077.033

Abstract Slender yarn structure made from natural fibers, nano-fibers, carbon nanotubes or other types of fibrous materials is all formed by twisting an assembly of short or long fibers and its performance is significantly influenced by the physical behavior of these fibers in the slender yarn forming region - a small triangle area called spinning triangle. In this paper, a new generalized FEM model of spinning triangle has been developed to theoretically analyze the fiber structural and mechanical performance in fabrication of these slender yarn structures. In this proposed model, a geometrical model of spinning triangle is developed and the initial… More >
