NUMERICAL PREDICTIONS ON FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER IN HEAT EXCHANGER TUBE EQUIPPED WITH VARIOUS FLOW ATTACK ANGLES OF INCLINED-WAVY SURFACE

    Amnart Boonloia, Withada Jedsadaratanachaib,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-14, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.10

Abstract Numerical analysis on flow configuration, heat transfer behavior and thermal performance in the heat exchanger tube equipped with various flow attack angles of the inclined wavy surface are presented. The laminar flow (Re = 100 – 1200) and turbulent flow (Re = 3000 – 10000) are considered for the present investigation. The flow attack angles of the inclined wavy surface are varied as 15o – 60o . The finite volume method with SIMPLE algorithm is selected to evaluate the current problem. The numerical results are reported in terms of flow and heat transfer mechanisms. The performance evaluations in forms of… More >

Farhan Lafta Rashida, Sarmad Kamal Fakhrulddinb, Muhammad Asmail Eleiwic, Ahmed Kadhim Husseind,e, Tahseen Ahmad Tahseenf , ObaiYounisg,h,*, Mohammed Ibrahim Ahmedi

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.19, pp. 1-8, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.19.6

Abstract The current study numerically analyzes the heat transfer enhancement and laminar fluid flow characteristics of four flat tubes with varying attack front airflow. The heat transfer characteristics of flat tubes are investigated in terms of Reynolds number, heat fluxes, and inclination angle. Four Reynolds numbers are studied (100, 200, 300, and 400), and three heat fluxes on the surface of the tubes are (1000, 2500, 3800 W/m2 ), the inclination angle of the four flat tubes are (30o , 45o , 90o). ANSYS Fluent software v.18 discretizes and solves the governing equations using the finite volume approach across a specified… More >

How Do Water Filled Traffic Barriers Shake a Suspension Bridge?

    Guanni Qu1,#, Tianai Yue2,#,*, Xiaoyu Zhang3, Shibiao Wei3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 591-608, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017776

Abstract The present study stems from the realization that the general problem relating to the analysis of wind-induced vibrations in suspension bridges still requires significant attention. Sidewalk railings, overhaul tracks, and deflectors are known to largely affect such dynamics. Here, the influence of a row of water-filled traffic barriers on the response of a sample suspension bridge is investigated numerically. It is shown that the existence of water barriers causes flow separation and non-negligible vortices with respect to the condition with no water barriers. The vortex shedding frequency at the far end is around 41.30 Hz, relatively close to the real… More >
