COVID-19 Automatic Detection Using Deep Learning

    Yousef Sanajalwe1,2,*, Mohammed Anbar1, Salam Al-E’mari1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.39, No.1, pp. 15-35, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.017191

Abstract The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic disease that is currently affecting over 200 countries around the world and impacting billions of people. The first step to mitigate and control its spread is to identify and isolate the infected people. But, because of the lack of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-CPR) tests, it is important to discover suspected COVID-19 cases as early as possible, such as by scan analysis and chest X-ray by radiologists. However, chest X-ray analysis is relatively time-consuming since it requires more than 15 minutes per case. In this paper, an automated novel detection… More >

Automatic Detection of COVID-19 Using Chest X-Ray Images and Modified ResNet18-Based Convolution Neural Networks

    Ruaa A. Al-Falluji1,*, Zainab Dalaf Katheeth2, Bashar Alathari2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1301-1313, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013232

Abstract The latest studies with radiological imaging techniques indicate that X-ray images provide valuable details on the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The usage of sophisticated artificial intelligence technology (AI) and the radiological images can help in diagnosing the disease reliably and addressing the problem of the shortage of trained doctors in remote villages. In this research, the automated diagnosis of Coronavirus disease was performed using a dataset of X-ray images of patients with severe bacterial pneumonia, reported COVID-19 disease, and normal cases. The goal of the study is to analyze the achievements for medical image recognition of state-of-the-art neural networking architectures.… More >

Automatic Detection of Aortic Dissection Based on Morphology and Deep Learning

    Yun Tan1, #, Ling Tan2, #, Xuyu Xiang1, *, Hao Tang2, *, Jiaohua Qin1, Wenyan Pan1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.3, pp. 1201-1215, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07127

Abstract Aortic dissection (AD) is a kind of acute and rapidly progressing cardiovascular disease. In this work, we build a CTA image library with 88 CT cases, 43 cases of aortic dissection and 45 cases of health. An aortic dissection detection method based on CTA images is proposed. ROI is extracted based on binarization and morphology opening operation. The deep learning networks (InceptionV3, ResNet50, and DenseNet) are applied after the preprocessing of the datasets. Recall, F1-score, Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC) and other performance indexes are investigated. It is shown that the deep learning methods have much better performance than the traditional… More >
