Hibifolin Modulates the Activation of Mouse Bone Marrow-Derived Dendritic Cells and Attenuates Contact Dermatitis Induced by 2,4-Dinitro-1-Fluorobenzene

    Ya-Yi Chen1,2, Tzu-Ting Chen3, Ya-Hsuan Chao4, Wen-Ho Chuo5, Chieh-Shan Wu6,7, Ruo-Han Tseng8,*, Chieh-Chen Huang9,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.49, No.9, pp. 1733-1748, 2025, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2025.067011 - 25 September 2025

Abstract Objectives: Professional antigen-presenting cells known as dendritic cells (DCs) assist as a connection between the innate and adaptive components of the immune response. DCs are attractive targets for immunomodulatory drugs because of their crucial function in triggering immunity. This study set out to examine, for the first time, how hibifolin affected mouse bone-marrow derived (BMDCs) dendritic cells, triggered by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in vitro. Additionally, a mouse model of contact hypersensitivity (CHS) was used to assess its possible therapeutic effects in vivo. Methods: LPS was administered to BMDCs with or without hibifolin. Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II,… More >

Deep Learning-Based Health Assessment Method for Benzene-to-Ethylene Ratio Control Systems under Incomplete Data

    Huichao Cao1,*, Honghe Du1, Dongnian Jiang1, Wei Li1, Lei Du1, Jianfeng Yang2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.19, No.5, pp. 1305-1325, 2025, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2025.066002 - 05 September 2025

Abstract In the production processes of modern industry, accurate assessment of the system’s health state and traceability non-optimal factors are key to ensuring “safe, stable, long-term, full load and optimal” operation of the production process. The benzene-to-ethylene ratio control system is a complex system based on an MPC-PID double-layer architecture. Taking into consideration the interaction between levels, coupling between loops and conditions of incomplete operation data, this paper proposes a health assessment method for the dual-layer control system by comprehensively utilizing deep learning technology. Firstly, according to the results of the pre-assessment of the system layers… More >

Floral Volatiles in Natural Populations of Paeonia lactiflora: Key Components and Cultivar Differential Analysis

    Meida Chen1, Tongfei Niu1, Kai Gao2, Zhanxiang Tan1, Yuxin Zhao1, Xiaogai Hou1,*, Lili Guo1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.94, No.6, pp. 1921-1940, 2025, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2025.065738 - 27 June 2025

Abstract Floral scent serves as a key criterion for evaluating the ornamental value of flowering plants. Herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.), a traditional Chinese ornamental species, is valued for its vibrant coloration, intricate floral morphology, and positive cultural symbolism. In this study, dynamic headspace adsorption coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was employed to analyze volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in flowers of 120 herbaceous peony cultivars at the half-opening stage. We detected 86 VOCs, comprising 25 aromatic compounds (79.70%), 21 hydrocarbons (10.51%), 29 terpenoids (8.37%), 7 fatty acid derivatives (1.03%), and 4 heterocyclic compounds (0.38%). The cultivar ‘Dr.… More >

Preparation of N,S-Doped Biochar via Modulating Chitosan and Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonate Interaction and Its Adsorption Performance

    Jun-Jie Yang1, Ran An1, Jing-Heng Nie1, Hao-Miao Ma1, Yu-Qing Yan1, Yuan-Ru Guo1,*, Qing-Jiang Pan2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.13, No.5, pp. 885-900, 2025, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2025.02024-0066 - 20 May 2025

Abstract To achieve the sustainable development and carbon neutral target, biomass chitosan (CS) was used to prepare N,S-doped biochar (NSB) with the assistance of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). The synthetic route was developed, which does not require the activation that is frequently-used for active carbon materials. By manipulating their interaction, SDBS was deposited with CS in neutral and basic conditions. Subsequent calcination successfully has access to NSB. It features with hierarchical porous structure and abundant functional groups. The dually-doped NSB bears excellent adsorption performance towards chlortetracycline (CTC). The adsorption capacity reaches 101.3 mg g−1 within 4 More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3573-3585, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022031 - 14 July 2022

Abstract Adsorption can be used to recover effectively the volatile organic gases (VOCs) in the exhaust gas from factories through using an appropriate adsorption bed. Due to form a physical or chemical bond, adsorption occurs between the porous solid medium and the liquid or gas multi-component fluid mixture. The regeneration capacity of the adsorbent is as important as the adsorption capacity and it determines the economics of the adsorption system. The regeneration of adsorbent can be realized through changing the pressure or temperature of the system. Here, activated carbon samples from coconut shell were prepared and… More > Graphic Abstract

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-7, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.19

Abstract In this work, a combination of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and porous media model was applied to simulate the benzene adsorption on activated carbon and the flow fields in a porous media. The three dimensional unsteady state the gas flow was modeled by using the laminar one phase flow equations in conjunction with the mass transfer equation. The adsorption rate on solid phase was implemented to the model by a user defined source. The model was validated by comparing the simulated breakthrough curves by experimental data. After the validation of the model, the effects of More >
