Modeling and Capacity Configuration Optimization of CRH5 EMU On-Board Energy Storage System

Mingxing Tian*, Weiyuan Zhang, Zhaoxu Su

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 307-329, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.057426 - 27 December 2024

Abstract In the context of the “dual carbon” goals, to address issues such as high energy consumption, high costs, and low power quality in the rapid development of electrified railways, this study focused on the China Railways High-Speed 5 Electric Multiple Unit and proposed a mathematical model and capacity optimization method for an on-board energy storage system using lithium batteries and supercapacitors as storage media. Firstly, considering the electrical characteristics, weight, and volume of the storage media, a mathematical model of the energy storage system was established. Secondly, to tackle problems related to energy consumption and… More >

Efficient Origin-Destination Estimation Using Microscopic Traffic Simulation with Restricted Rerouting

    Kazuki Abe1,*, Hideki Fujii2, Shinobu Yoshimura2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 1091-1109, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021376 - 27 October 2022

Abstract Traffic simulators are utilized to solve a variety of traffic-related problems. For such simulators, origin-destination (OD) traffic volumes as mobility demands are required to input, and we need to estimate them. The authors regard an OD estimation as a bi-level programming problem, and apply a microscopic traffic simulation model to it. However, the simulation trials can be computationally expensive if full dynamic rerouting is allowed, when employing multi-agent-based models in the estimation process. This paper proposes an efficient OD estimation method using a multi-agent-based simulator with restricted dynamic rerouting to reduce the computational load. Even More >
