Reconfigurable Sensing Time in Cooperative Cognitive Network Using Machine Learning

    Noor Gul1,2, Saeed Ahmed1,3, Su Min Kim1, Muhammad Sajjad Khan4, Junsu Kim1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 5209-5227, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.026945

Abstract A cognitive radio network (CRN) intelligently utilizes the available spectral resources by sensing and learning from the radio environment to maximize spectrum utilization. In CRNs, the secondary users (SUs) opportunistically access the primary users (PUs) spectrum. Therefore, unambiguous detection of the PU channel occupancy is the most critical aspect of the operations of CRNs. Cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is rated as the best choice for making reliable sensing decisions. This paper employs machine-learning tools to sense the PU channels reliably in CSS. The sensing parameters are reconfigured to maximize the spectrum utilization while reducing sensing error and cost with improved… More >

Optimization of Cognitive Femtocell Network via Oppositional Beetle Swarm Optimization Algorithm

    K. Rajesh Kumar1,*, M. Vijayakumar2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 819-832, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.030961

Abstract In past decades, cellular networks have raised the usage of spectrum resources due to the victory of mobile broadband services. Mobile devices create massive data than ever before, facing the way cellular networks are installed presently for satisfying the increased traffic requirements. The development of a new exclusive spectrum offered to meet up the traffic requirements is challenging as spectrum resources are limited, hence costly. Cognitive radio technology is presented to increase the pool of existing spectrum resources for mobile users via Femtocells, placed on the top of the available macrocell network for sharing the same spectrum. Nevertheless, the concurrent… More >

Efficient Centralized Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Techniques for Cognitive Networks

    P. Gnanasivam1, G. T. Bharathy1,*, V. Rajendran2, T. Tamilselvi1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 55-65, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.023374

Abstract Wireless Communication is a system for communicating information from one point to other, without utilizing any connections like wire, cable, or other physical medium. Cognitive Radio (CR) based systems and networks are a revolutionary new perception in wireless communications. Spectrum sensing is a vital task of CR to avert destructive intrusion with licensed primary or main users and discover the accessible spectrum for the efficient utilization of the spectrum. Centralized Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) is a kind of spectrum sensing. Most of the test metrics designed till now for sensing the spectrum is produced by using the Sample Covariance Matrix… More >
