Abstract Recently, nano-systems based on molecular communications via diffusion (MCvD) have been implemented in a variety of nanomedical applications, most notably in targeted drug delivery system (TDDS) scenarios. Furthermore, because the MCvD is unreliable and there exists molecular noise and inter symbol interference (ISI), cooperative nano-relays can acquire the reliability for drug delivery to targeted diseased cells, especially if the separation distance between the nano transmitter and nano receiver is increased. In this work, we propose an approach for optimizing the performance of the nano system using cooperative molecular communications with a nano relay scheme, while accounting for blood flow effects… More >

Cooperative Relay Networks Based on the OAM Technique for 5G Applications

Mohammad Alkhawatrah, Ahmad Alamayreh, Nidal Qasem*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 1911-1919, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028614

Abstract Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) is an intrinsic property of electromagnetic waves. Great research has been witnessed in the last decades aiming at exploiting the OAM wave property in different areas in radio and optics. One promising area of particular interest is to enhance the efficiency of the available communications spectrum. However, adopting OAM-based solutions is not priceless as these suffer from wave divergence especially when the OAM order is high. This shall limit the practical communications distance, especially in the radio regime. In this paper, we propose a cooperative OAM relaying system consisting of a source, relay, and destination. Relays… More >

NOMA-Based Cooperative Relaying Transmission for the Industrial Internet of Things

    Yinghua Zhang1,*, Rui Cao1, Lixin Tian1, Rong Dai2, Zhennan Cao2, Jim Feng3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 6513-6534, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.029467

Abstract With the continuous maturity of the fifth generation (5G) communications, industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology has been widely applied in fields such as smart factories. In smart factories, 5G-based production line monitoring can improve production efficiency and reduce costs, but there are problems with limited monitoring coverage and insufficient wireless spectrum resources, which restricts the application of IIoT in the construction of smart factories. In response to these problems, we propose a hybrid spectrum access mechanism based on Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) cooperative relaying transmission to improve the monitoring coverage and spectrum efficiency. As there are a large number… More >

Adaptive Relay Selection Scheme for Minimization of the Transmission Time

    Yu-Jin Na1, Ji-Sung Jung1, Young-Hwan You2, Hyoung-Kyu Song1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 1361-1373, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018481

Abstract As the installation of small cells increases, the use of relay also increases. The relay operates as a base station as well as just an amplifier. As the roles and types of relays become more diverse, appropriate relay selection technology is an effective way to improve communication performance. Many researches for relay selection have been studied to secure the reliability of relay communication. In this paper, the relay selection scheme is proposed for a cooperative system using decode-and-forward (DF) relaying scheme in the mobile communication system. To maintain the transmission rate, the proposed scheme classifies a candidate group considering the… More >

An Adaptive Power Allocation Scheme for Performance Improvement of Cooperative SWIPT NOMA Wireless Networks

    Manimekalai Thirunavukkarasu1, Romera Joan Sparjan1, *, Laxmikandan Thangavelu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.2, pp. 1043-1064, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09819

Abstract Future wireless networks demand high spectral efficiency, energy efficiency and reliability. Cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is considered as one of the novel techniques to meet this demand. In this work, an adaptive power allocation scheme called SWIPT based adaptive power allocation (SWIPT-APA-NOMA) is proposed for a power domain NOMA network. The proposed scheme considers the receiver sensitivity of the end users while calculating the power allocation coefficients in order to prevent wastage of power allocated to user in outage and by offering priority to any one of the users to use… More >

Cooperative Relay Selection Mechanism in Multi-Hop Networks

    Jian Liu1, Lei Wang1, Changming Zhao2, 3, *, Alan Yang4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.1, pp. 119-130, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06074

Abstract In this paper, we consider a three-hop relay system based on interference cancellation technique in Underlay cognitive radio (CR) network. Although underlay CR has been shown as a promising technique to better utilize the source of primary users (PUs), its secondary performance will be severely degraded. On one hand, by adapting the Underlay spectrum sharing pattern, secondary users (SUs) would observe the strict power constraints and be interfered by primary users. On the other hand, limited transmit power results in limited transmission range, which greatly degrade the secondary transmission capacity. To solve the problems above, we propose an interference cancellation… More >
