Priority Based Energy Efficient MAC Protocol by Varying Data Rate for Wireless Body Area Network

    R. Sangeetha, Usha Devi Gandhi*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.2, pp. 395-411, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.041217

Abstract Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is a cutting-edge technology that is being used in healthcare applications to monitor critical events in the human body. WBAN is a collection of in-body and on-body sensors that monitor human physical parameters such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen level, body motion, and so on. They sense the data and communicate it to the Body Area Network (BAN) Coordinator. The main challenge for the WBAN is energy consumption. These issues can be addressed by implementing an effective Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol that reduces energy consumption and increases network lifetime. The purpose of… More >

    Khadem Ullah1,*, Nasru Minallah1, Durre Nayab1, Ishtiaque Ahmed2, Jaroslav Frnda3,4, Jan Nedoma4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 995-1010, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.030531

Abstract With the ever growth of Internet users, video applications, and massive data traffic across the network, there is a higher need for reliable bandwidth-efficient multimedia communication. Versatile Video Coding (VVC/H.266) is finalized in September 2020 providing significantly greater compression efficiency compared to Highest Efficient Video Coding (HEVC) while providing versatile effective use for Ultra-High Definition (HD) videos. This article analyzes the quality performance of convolutional codes, turbo codes and self-concatenated convolutional (SCC) codes based on performance metrics for reliable future video communication. The advent of turbo codes was a significant achievement ever in the era of wireless communication approaching nearly… More >

Performance Analysis of Low Power Interference Cancellation Architecture for OFDM System

    N. Manikanda Devarajan1,*, S. Thenmozhi2, K. Jayaram3, R. Saravanakumar4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 1167-1178, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021558

Abstract Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a wireless communication technology that is used for highly reliable and high data rate communication. In a multi-user OFDM system, the interference has occurred in the receiver side between the consecutive OFDM symbols. This interference reduces the performance of the OFDM system. To achieve good quality in received symbols the interference level should be minimized. The conventional cancellation system requires higher interference reduction time and power. These limitations of the conventional interference cancellation architectures for OFDM systems are overcome by proposing efficient and low power interference cancellation architecture. Hence, this paper proposes a novel… More >

Research on Key Technologies of Electronic Shelf Labels Based on LoRa

Malak Abid Ali Khan1,2, Xiaofeng Lian1,*, Imran Khan Mirani1,3, Li Tan4

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 49-63, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2021.016213

Abstract The demand for Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL), according to the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm, is expected to grow considerably in the immediate future. Various wireless communication standards are currently contending to gain an edge over the competition and provide the massive connectivity that will be required by a world in which everyday objects are expected to communicate with each other. Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWANs) are continuously gaining momentum among these standards, mainly thanks to their ability to provide long-range coverage to devices, exploiting license-free frequency bands. The main theme of this work is one of the most prominent LPWAN… More >

Multi-Rate Polling: Improve the Performance of Energy Harvesting Backscatter Wireless Networks

    Yu Han1,*, Wenxian Zheng2, Guangjun Wen1, Chu Chu1, Jian Su3, Yibo Zhang4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.2, pp. 795-812, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05719

Abstract In recent years, Researchers have proposed the concept of Energy Harvesting Backscatter Wireless Networks (EHBWN). EHBWN usually consists of one sink and several backscatter nodes. Backscatter nodes harvest energy from their environment and communicate with sink through backscattering the carrier wave transmitted by sink. Although a certain amount of access protocols for Energy Harvesting Wireless Networks have been present, they usually do not take the sink’s receiver sensitivity into account, which makes those protocols unsuitable in practice. In this paper, we first give an analysis of the backscatter channel link budget and the relationship between the effective communication range and… More >
