A MySQL-Based Software System of Urban Land Planning Database of Shanghai in China

    Pei Yin1, Jing Cheng2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2387-2405, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.023666

Abstract With the development of the digital city, data and data analysis have become more and more important. The database is the foundation of data analysis. In this paper, the software system of the urban land planning database of Shanghai in China is developed based on MySQL. The conceptual model of the urban land planning database is proposed, and the entities, attributes and connections of this model are discussed. Then the E-R conceptual model is transformed into a logical structure, which is supported by the relational database management system (DBMS). Based on the conceptual and logical structures, by using SpringBoot as… More >

Handling Big Data in Relational Database Management Systems

    Kamal ElDahshan1, Eman Selim2, Ahmed Ismail Ebada2, Mohamed Abouhawwash3,4, Yunyoung Nam5,*, Gamal Behery2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 5149-5164, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028326

Abstract Currently, relational database management systems (RDBMSs) face different challenges in application development due to the massive growth of unstructured and semi-structured data. This introduced new DBMS categories, known as not only structured query language (NoSQL) DBMSs, which do not adhere to the relational model. The migration from relational databases to NoSQL databases is challenging due to the data complexity. This study aims to enhance the storage performance of RDBMSs in handling a variety of data. The paper presents two approaches. The first approach proposes a convenient representation of unstructured data storage. Several extensive experiments were implemented to assess the efficiency… More >

An OWL-Based Specification of Database Management Systems

    Sabin C. Buraga1,*, Daniel Amariei1, Octavian Dospinescu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 5537-5550, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021714

Abstract In the context of a proliferation of Database Management Systems (DBMSs), we have envisioned and produced an OWL 2 ontology able to provide a high-level machine-processable description of the DBMSs domain. This conceptualization aims to facilitate a proper execution of various software engineering processes and database-focused administration tasks. Also, it can be used to improve the decision-making process for determining/selecting the appropriate DBMS, subject to specific requirements. The proposed model describes the most important features and aspects regarding the DBMS domain, including the support for various paradigms (relational, graph-based, key-value, tree-like, etc.), query languages, platforms (servers), plus running environments (desktop,… More >

A New Database Intrusion Detection Approach Based on Hybrid Meta-Heuristics

    Youseef Alotaibi*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1879-1895, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013739

Abstract A new secured database management system architecture using intrusion detection systems (IDS) is proposed in this paper for organizations with no previous role mapping for users. A simple representation of Structured Query Language queries is proposed to easily permit the use of the worked clustering algorithm. A new clustering algorithm that uses a tube search with adaptive memory is applied to database log files to create users’ profiles. Then, queries issued for each user are checked against the related user profile using a classifier to determine whether or not each query is malicious. The IDS will stop query execution or… More >
