Abstract A novel siphon-based divide-and-conquer (SbDaC) policy is presented in this paper for the synthesis of Petri net (PN) based liveness-enforcing supervisors (LES) for flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) prone to deadlocks or livelocks. The proposed method takes an uncontrolled and bounded PN model (UPNM) of the FMS. Firstly, the reduced PNM (RPNM) is obtained from the UPNM by using PN reduction rules to reduce the computation burden. Then, the set of strict minimal siphons (SMSs) of the RPNM is computed. Next, the complementary set of SMSs is computed from the set of SMSs. By the union… More >

Abstract The Message Passing Interface (MPI) is a widely accepted standard for parallel computing on distributed memory systems. However, MPI implementations can contain defects that impact the reliability and performance of parallel applications. Detecting and correcting these defects is crucial, yet there is a lack of published models specifically designed for correcting MPI defects. To address this, we propose a model for detecting and correcting MPI defects (DC_MPI), which aims to detect and correct defects in various types of MPI communication, including blocking point-to-point (BPTP), nonblocking point-to-point (NBPTP), and collective communication (CC). The defects addressed by… More >

Type-2 Neutrosophic Set and Their Applications in Medical Databases Deadlock Resolution

    Marwan H. Hassan1, Saad M. Darwish2,*, Saleh M. Elkaffas3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 4417-4434, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033175 - 31 October 2022

Abstract Electronic patient data gives many advantages, but also new difficulties. Deadlocks may delay procedures like acquiring patient information. Distributed deadlock resolution solutions introduce uncertainty due to inaccurate transaction properties. Soft computing-based solutions have been developed to solve this challenge. In a single framework, ambiguous, vague, incomplete, and inconsistent transaction attribute information has received minimal attention. The work presented in this paper employed type-2 neutrosophic logic, an extension of type-1 neutrosophic logic, to handle uncertainty in real-time deadlock-resolving systems. The proposed method is structured to reflect multiple types of knowledge and relations among transactions’ features that… More >
