Multidomain Correlation-Based Multidimensional CSI Tensor Generation for Device-Free Wi-Fi Sensing

    Liufeng Du1,*, Shaoru Shang1, Linghua Zhang2, Chong Li1, Jianing Yang3, Xiyan Tian1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1749-1767, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030144

Abstract Due to the fine-grained communication scenarios characterization and stability, Wi-Fi channel state information (CSI) has been increasingly applied to indoor sensing tasks recently. Although spatial variations are explicitly reflected in CSI measurements, the representation differences caused by small contextual changes are easily submerged in the fluctuations of multipath effects, especially in device-free Wi-Fi sensing. Most existing data solutions cannot fully exploit the temporal, spatial, and frequency information carried by CSI, which results in insufficient sensing resolution for indoor scenario changes. As a result, the well-liked machine learning (ML)-based CSI sensing models still struggling with stable performance. This paper formulates a… More >

A Review of Device-Free Indoor Positioning for Home-Based Care of the Aged: Techniques and Technologies

    Geng Chen1,*, Lili Cheng1, Rui Shao1, Qingbin Wang1, Shuihua Wang2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 1901-1940, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024901

Abstract With the development of urbanization, the problem of neurological diseases brought about by population aging has gradually become a social problem of worldwide concern. Aging leads to gradual degeneration of the central nervous system, shrinkage of brain tissue, and decline in physical function in many elderlies, making them susceptible to neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), stroke, Parkinson’s and major depressive disorder (MDD). Due to the influence of these neurological diseases, the elderly have troubles such as memory loss, inability to move, falling, and getting lost, which seriously affect their quality of life. Tracking and positioning of elderly with… More > Graphic Abstract

Adaptive Scheme for Crowd Counting Using off-the-Shelf Wireless Routers

    Wei Zhuang1,2, Yixian Shen1, Chunming Gao3, Lu Li1, Haoran Sang4, Fei Qian5,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.1, pp. 255-269, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020590

Abstract Since the outbreak of the world-wide novel coronavirus pandemic, crowd counting in public areas, such as in shopping centers and in commercial streets, has gained popularity among public health administrations for preventing the crowds from gathering. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive method for crowd counting based on Wi-Fi channel state information (CSI) by using common commercial wireless routers. Compared with previous researches on device-free crowd counting, our proposed method is more adaptive to the change of environment and can achieve high accuracy of crowd count estimation. Because the distance between access point (AP) and monitor point (MP)… More >

MFPL: Multi-Frequency Phase Difference Combination Based Device-Free Localization

    Zengshan Tian1, Weiqin Yang1, Yue Jin1, Liangbo Xie1, *, Zhengwen Huang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 861-876, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07297

Abstract With the popularity of indoor wireless network, device-free indoor localization has attracted more and more attention. Unlike device-based localization where the target is required to carry an active transmitter, their frequent signal scanning consumes a large amount of energy, which is inconvenient for devices with limited energy. In this work, we propose the MFPL, device-free localization (DFL) system based on WiFi distance measurement. First, we combine multi-subcarrier characteristic of Channel State Information (CSI) with classical Fresnel reflection model to get the linear relationship between the change of the length of reflection path and the subcarrier phase difference. Then we calculate… More >
