Hybrid Optimization Algorithm for Resource Allocation in LTE-Based D2D Communication

    Amel Austine*, R. Suji Pramila

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2263-2276, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032323

Abstract In a cellular network, direct Device-to-Device (D2D) communication enhances Quality of Service (QoS) in terms of coverage, throughput and amount of power consumed. Since the D2D pairs involve cellular resources for communication, the chances of interference are high. D2D communications demand minimum interference along with maximum throughput and sum rate which can be achieved by employing optimal resources and efficient power allocation procedures. In this research, a hybrid optimization model called Genetic Algorithm-Adaptive Bat Optimization (GA-ABO) algorithm is proposed for efficient resource allocation in a cellular network with D2D communication. Simulation analysis demonstrates that the proposed model involves reduced interference… More >

Abstract With the rapid development of the next-generation mobile network, the number of terminal devices and applications is growing explosively. Therefore, how to obtain a higher data rate, wider network coverage and higher resource utilization in the limited spectrum resources has become the common research goal of scholars. Device-to-Device (D2D) communication technology and other frontier communication technologies have emerged. Device-to-Device communication technology is the technology that devices in proximity can communicate directly in cellular networks. It has become one of the key technologies of the fifth-generation mobile communications system(5G). D2D communication technology which is introduced into cellular networks can effectively improve… More >

An Optimized Algorithm for Resource Allocation for D2D in Heterogeneous Networks

    Abdul Kadir Hamid1, Fahd N. Al-Wesabi2,3,*, Nadhem Nemri4, Ammar Zahary3, Imran Khan5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 2923-2936, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020309

Abstract With the emergence of 5G mobile multimedia services, end users’ demand for high-speed, low-latency mobile communication network access is increasing. Among them, the device-to-device (D2D) communication is one of the considerable technology. In D2D communication, the data does not need to be relayed and forwarded by the base station, but under the control of the base station, a direct local link is allowed between two adjacent mobile devices. This flexible communication mode reduces the processing bottlenecks and coverage blind spots of the base station, and can be widely used in dense user communication scenarios such as heterogeneous ultra-dense wireless networks.… More >

    Ajmal Khan1, Mubashir Mukhtar1, Farman Ullah1, Muhammad Bilal2, Kyung-Sup Kwak3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 1725-1746, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017952

Abstract In post disaster scenarios such as war zones floods and earthquakes, the cellular communication infrastructure can be lost or severely damaged. In such emergency situations, remaining in contact with other rescue response teams in order to provide inputs for both headquarters and disaster survivors becomes very necessary. Therefore, in this research work, a design, implementation and evaluation of energy aware rapidly deployable system named EA-RDSP is proposed. The proposed research work assists the early rescue workers and victims to transmit their location information towards the remotely located servers. In EA-RDSP, two algorithms are proposed i.e., Hop count Assignment (HCA) algorithm… More >

Resource Allocation and Optimization in Device-to-Device Communication 5G Networks

    Fahad Ahmed Al-Zahrani1, Imran Khan2, Mahdi Zareei3,*, Asim Zeb4, Abdul Waheed5,6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 1201-1214, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018386

Abstract The next-generation wireless networks are expected to provide higher capacity, system throughput with improved energy efficiency. One of the key technologies, to meet the demand for high-rate transmission, is device-to-device (D2D) communication which allows users who are close to communicating directly instead of transiting through base stations, and D2D communication users to share the cellular user chain under the control of the cellular network. As a new generation of cellular network technology, D2D communication technology has the advantages of improving spectrum resource utilization and improving system throughput and has become one of the key technologies that have been widely concerned… More >

Complexity Effective Frequency and Sidelink Synchronization Algorithm for LTE Device-to-Device Communication Systems

    Yong-An Jung1, Min-Goo Kang2, Young-Hwan You1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 443-458, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08777

Abstract Device-to-device (D2D) communication is considered as a major challenge in the long term evolution (LTE) network wherein devices directly communicate with each other. One of the key challenges in D2D sidelink is reliable and reduced-complexity synchronization. To address this issue, a computationally efficient sequential detection scheme for integer carrier frequency offset and sidelink identity is proposed in the LTED2D system. To perform the frequency offset detection without retrieving the sidelink identity, the conjugate relation between two primary sidelink synchronization sequences is exploited, which facilitates the detection tasks of frequency offset and sidelink identity to be decoupled. It is demonstrated from… More >

Joint Spectrum Partition and Performance Analysis of Full-Duplex D2D Communications in Multi-Tier Wireless Networks

    Yueping Wang1,*, Xuan Zhang2, Yixuan Zhang3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.1, pp. 171-184, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06204

Abstract Full-duplex (FD) has been recognized as a promising technology for future 5G networks to improve the spectrum efficiency. However, the biggest practical impediments of realizing full-duplex communications are the presence of self-interference, especially in complex cellular networks. With the current development of self-interference cancellation techniques, full-duplex has been considered to be more suitable for device-to-device (D2D) and small cell communications which have small transmission range and low transmit power. In this paper, we consider the full-duplex D2D communications in multi-tier wireless networks and present an analytical model which jointly considers mode selection, resource allocation, and power control. Specifically, we consider… More >
