Blockchain and Smart Contracts: An Effective Approach for the Transaction Security & Privacy in Electronic Medical Records

    Amal Al-Rasheed1, Hashim Ali2,*, Rahim Khan2,*, Aamir Saeed3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.85, No.2, pp. 3419-3436, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.065156 - 23 September 2025

Abstract In the domain of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), emerging technologies are crucial to addressing longstanding concerns surrounding transaction security and patient privacy. This paper explores the integration of smart contracts and blockchain technology as a robust framework for securing sensitive healthcare data. By leveraging the decentralized and immutable nature of blockchain, the proposed approach ensures transparency, integrity, and traceability of EMR transactions, effectively mitigating risks of unauthorized access and data tampering. Smart contracts further enhance this framework by enabling the automation and enforcement of secure transactions, eliminating reliance on intermediaries and reducing the potential for… More >

Data Masking for Chinese Electronic Medical Records with Named Entity Recognition

    Tianyu He1, Xiaolong Xu1,*, Zhichen Hu1, Qingzhan Zhao2, Jianguo Dai2, Fei Dai3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 3657-3673, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.036831 - 15 March 2023

Abstract With the rapid development of information technology, the electronification of medical records has gradually become a trend. In China, the population base is huge and the supporting medical institutions are numerous, so this reality drives the conversion of paper medical records to electronic medical records. Electronic medical records are the basis for establishing a smart hospital and an important guarantee for achieving medical intelligence, and the massive amount of electronic medical record data is also an important data set for conducting research in the medical field. However, electronic medical records contain a large amount of… More >

Secure and Efficient Data Storage and Sharing Scheme Based on Double Blockchain

    Lejun Zhang1,2,*, Minghui Peng1, Weizheng Wang3 , Yansen Su4, Shuna Cui5,6, Seokhoon Kim7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 499-515, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012205 - 30 October 2020

Abstract In the digital era, electronic medical record (EMR) has been a major way for hospitals to store patients’ medical data. The traditional centralized medical system and semi-trusted cloud storage are difficult to achieve dynamic balance between privacy protection and data sharing. The storage capacity of blockchain is limited and single blockchain schemes have poor scalability and low throughput. To address these issues, we propose a secure and efficient medical data storage and sharing scheme based on double blockchain. In our scheme, we encrypt the original EMR and store it in the cloud. The storage blockchain… More >
