Abstract Acellular dermal matrix (ADM) as a biomaterial is currently believed to be promising tissue repair improvement. With the development of tissue engineering, ADM is increasingly used as biological scaffolds. We explored the feasibility and performance of ADM biological scaffolds that fabricated by 3D printing. This paper presented our study on the printability of 3D printed ADM scaffolds, with a focus on identifying the influence of printing parameters/conditions on printability. To characterize the printability, we examined the fiber morphology, pore size, strand diameter, and mechanical property of the printed scaffolds. Our results revealed that the printability… More >

    Jing Sun1,2,3,*, Dehua Liu1,2,3, Xiang Zhu1,2,3, Wenjun Huang1,2,3, Liang Cheng1,2,3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.3, pp. 425-440, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.08531 - 25 May 2020

Abstract Low permeability tight sandstone reservoirs have a high filtrational resistance and a very low fluid flow rate. As a result, the propagation speed of the formation pressure is low and fluid flow behaves as a non-Darcy flow, which typically displays a highly non-linear behavior. In this paper, the characteristics and mechanism of pressure propagation in this kind of reservoir are revealed through a laboratory pressure propagation experiment and through data from an actual tight reservoir development. The main performance mechanism is as follows: A new pressure cage concept is proposed based on the pressure variation… More >

    Xiangli Wang1, Peiyong Ni2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 237-243, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.09469 - 21 April 2020

Abstract PM2.5 and formaldehyde are two main indoor pollutants potentially threatening the health of human beings. In this paper, the concentrations of PM2.5 and formaldehyde inside an office were measured under different conditions. The effects of temperature on the formaldehyde originating from the decoration materials, including flooring, gypsum powder, joint mixture and corestock, were also assessed. The results show that window ventilation can produce the same PM2.5 purification as an air cleaner. The concentration of formaldehyde released from the decoration materials is highly correlated to the indoor temperature, but it is not significantly influenced by humidity. In particular, More >

Rafiq Manna* , Patrick H. Oosthuizen

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-12, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.7

Abstract Natural convective heat transfer from two-sided diagonally inclined square plates having various thicknesses has been numerically and experimentally investigated. The aim of this work is to determine the influence of the plate thickness and diagonal inclination angle on the heat transfer rate for various flow regimes. The mean heat transfer rate was numerically obtained using ANSYS FLUENT© and experimentally determined using the Lumped Capacity Method. The results indicate that the plate thickness does not have a significant influence on the heat transfer rate while the diagonal inclination angle significantly influences the heat transfer rate especially More >

    Seyed Salman Hosseini1, Javad Marzbanrad2,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.6, pp. 297-308, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.07434

Abstract In this paper; the dynamic characteristics of a semi-active magnetorheological fluid (MRF) engine mount are studied. To do so, the performance of the MRF engine mount is experimentally examined in higher frequencies (50~170 Hz) and the various amplitudes (0.01 ~ 0.2 mm). In such an examination, an MRF engine mount along with its magnetically biased is fabricated and successfully measured. In addition, the natural frequencies of the system are obtained by standard hammer modal test. For modelling the behavior of the system, a mass-spring-damper model with tuned PID coefficients based on Pessen integral of absolute More >

Experimental Investigation of Nonlinear Vibration Isolator with Fluidic Actuators (NLVIFA)

    S. Sivakumar1,*, L. Jayakumar2

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.6, pp. 277-296, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.08099

Abstract This paper elaborates a nonlinear fluidic low frequency vibration isolator designed with the characteristics of quasi-zero stiffness (QZS). The existing model of QZS vibration isolator enhances amplitude of vibration and attenuating vibration frequencies. This concern with displacement plays a vital role in the performance and instability of oblique spring setup reduces the isolator performance in horizontal non-nominal loads, in this accordance; this paper associates double acting hydraulic cylinder (fluidic actuators in short) in oblique and helical coil spring. An approximate expression of unique analytical relationship between the stiffness of vertical spring and bulk modulus of… More >

    Ikuo Ohnuma, Machiko Ode

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.22, No.2, pp. 133-133, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.05431

Abstract Experimental investigation of phase equilibria in the Fe-Mn, Fe-Si, Fe-Al and Fe-Mn-Si-C systems was carried out. In the Fe-Mn system, α/γ equilibrium at temperatures below 600°C was revised by equilibration of severely deformed powder samples in which the α/γ equilibrated microstructures at low temperatures could be realized. In the Fe-Si and Fe-Al systems, the miscibility gap between A2, B2 and D03 phases as well as the A2/B2/D03 transition boundaries were determined precisely. Phase equilibria in the Al-rich region of the Fe-Al system were determined in detail. The α/γ equilibria in the Fe-Mn-C, Fe-Mn-C and Fe-Mn-Si-C systems More >

Numerical and Experimental Investigation of Heterogeneous Transformation Behaviour in Shape Memory Alloys

Bashir S. Shariat*, Sam Bakhtiari, Hong Yang, Yinong Liu

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.21, No.1, pp. 21-21, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.05559

Abstract Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are a unique collection of materials which can return to their initial configuration after being largely deformed. Near-equiatomic NiTi is the most widely used SMA due to its excellent shape memory properties and fabricability. One exceptional property of this alloy is superelasticity, which refers to the ability of the alloy to accommodate relatively large deformation typically up to 8% of tensile strain and return to the original undeformed shape upon unloading. As a result of this outstanding feature, superelastic NiTi have been increasingly used in different areas of engineering, such as… More >
