Experimental Performance Analysis of a Corrugation Type Solar Air Heater (CTSAH)

    Aravindh Madhavankutty Ambika1,2,*, Aarjab Ghimire2, Sreekumar Appukuttan2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.4, pp. 1483-1499, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.017618

Abstract This paper explains the experimental performance evaluation of a Corrugated Type Solar Air Heater (CTSAH) for understanding its performance in a humid tropical climatic condition in Puducherry, India. This helps in understanding its effectiveness in using it for drying application of products like seafood, etc. Experiments were conducted at different mass flow rates and their effect on the heat gain, efficiency, friction factor heat transfer, etc., was analyzed. Experiments were carried out at different mass flow rates, i.e., M1 = 0.06 kg/s, M2 = 0.14 kg/s, M3 = 0.17 kg/s, M4 = 0.25 kg/s, M5 = 0.3 kg/s, and were conducted from 11:00… More >

Experimental Performance Evaluation and Artificial-Neural-Network Modeling of ZnO-CuO/EG-W Hybrid Nanofluids

Yuling Zhai*, Long Li, Zihao Xuan, Mingyan Ma, Hua Wang

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 629-646, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017485

Abstract The thermo-physical properties of nanofluids are highly dependent on the used base fluid. This study explores the influence of the mixing ratio on the thermal conductivity and viscosity of ZnO-CuO/EG (ethylene glycol)-W (water) hybrid nanofluids with mass concentration and temperatures in the ranges 1-5 wt.% and 25-60°C, respectively. The characteristics and stability of these mixtures were estimated by TEM (transmission electron microscopy), visual observation, and absorbance tests. The results show that 120 min of sonication and the addition of PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone) surfactant can prevent sedimentation for a period reaching up to 20 days. The increase of EG (ethylene glycol)… More >

Experimental Performance Measures of Recycled Insulation Concrete Blocks from Construction and Demolition Waste

    Doudou Liu1,*, Liang Qiao2,3, Guozhong Li4

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.6, pp. 1675-1691, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018397

Abstract Construction and demolition (C&D) waste has seriously affected the ecological environment. The utilization of C&D waste resources can greatly alleviate this problem, and it is an important way to help achieve the goal of zero carbon in 2050. In this study, insulation concrete blocks were developed with recycled aggregates, cement, fly ash as main raw materials, expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation boards as block insulation filling material, and self-developed construction waste composite activator, interface enhancer, surface modifier and other additives. Through experimental research and performance test analysis, the best mix ratio of the product and the mechanism of each additive were… More >
