MF2-DMTD: A Formalism and Game-Based Reasoning Framework for Optimized Drone-Type Moving Target Defense

    Sang Seo1, Jaeyeon Lee2, Byeongjin Kim2, Woojin Lee2, Dohoon Kim3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 2595-2628, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042668

Abstract Moving-target-defense (MTD) fundamentally avoids an illegal initial compromise by asymmetrically increasing the uncertainty as the attack surface of the observable defender changes depending on spatial-temporal mutations. However, the existing naive MTD studies were conducted focusing only on wired network mutations. And these cases have also been no formal research on wireless aircraft domains with attributes that are extremely unfavorable to embedded system operations, such as hostility, mobility, and dependency. Therefore, to solve these conceptual limitations, this study proposes normalized drone-type MTD that maximizes defender superiority by mutating the unique fingerprints of wireless drones and that optimizes the period-based mutation principle… More >

Reliable Approximated Number System with Exact Bounds and Three-Valued Logic

    Reeseo Cha1, Wonhong Nam2,*, Jin-Young Choi1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.33, No.6, pp. 447-455, 2018, DOI:10.32604/csse.2018.33.447

Abstract Many programming languages provides mechanism to guarantee the error ranges of exact numbers and intervals. However, when they are integrated with unreliable approximated numbers, we cannot rely on the error-ranges anymore. Such unreliable error-ranges may cause serious errors in programs, and especially in safety critical systems they cost us huge amount of money and/or threaten human’s life. Hence, in this paper, we propose a novel number system to safely perform arithmetic operations with guaranteed error ranges. In the number system, exact numbers are separated from approximated numbers, and approximated numbers with strictly guaranteed error-ranges are again separated from unwarranted numbers… More >

    Formal Modelling of Real-Time Self-Adaptive Multi-Agent Systems

Awais Qasima, Syed Asad Raza Kazmib

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 49-63, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000012

Abstract The paradigm of multi-agent systems is very expressive to model distributed real-time systems. These real-time multi-agent systems by their working nature have temporal constraints as they need to operate in pervasive, dynamic and unpredictable environments. To achieve better fault-tolerance, they need to have the ability of self-adaptivity making them adaptable to the failures. Presently there is a lack of vocabulary for the formal modelling of real-time multi-agent systems with self-adaptive ability. In this research we proposed a framework named SMARTS for the formal modelling of self-adaptive real-time multi-agent systems. Our framework integrates MAPE-K interfaces, reflection perspective and unification with distribution… More >
