Two Phase Flow Simulation of Fractal Oil Reservoir Based on Meshless Method

    Xian Zhou1, Fei Wang2, Ziyu Wang3, Yunfeng Xu1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 653-664, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019072

Abstract The reservoir is the networked rock skeleton of an oil and gas trap, as well as the generic term for the fluid contained within pore fractures and karst caves. Heterogeneity and a complex internal pore structure characterize the reservoir rock. By introducing the fractal permeability formula, this paper establishes a fractal mathematical model of oil-water two-phase flow in an oil reservoir with heterogeneity characteristics and numerically solves the mathematical model using the weighted least squares meshless method. Additionally, the method’s correctness is verified by comparison to the exact solution. The numerical results demonstrate that the fractal oil-water two-phase flow mathematical… More >

Mathematical Design Enhancing Medical Images Formulated by a Fractal Flame Operator

    Rabha W. Ibrahim1,*, Husam Yahya2, Arkan J. Mohammed3, Nadia M. G. Al-Saidi4, Dumitru Baleanu5,6,7

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 937-950, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021954

Abstract The interest in using fractal theory and its applications has grown in the field of image processing. Image enhancement is one of the feature processing tools, which aims to improve the details of an image. The enhancement of digital pictures is a challenging task due to the unforeseeable variation in the quality of the captured images. In this study, we present a mathematical model using a local conformable differential operator (LCDO). The proposed model is formulated by the theory of cantor fractal to generalize the definition of LCDO. The main advantage of utilizing LCDO for image enhancement is its capability… More >

Quantifying the Mechanical Properties of White Sandstone Based on Computer Fractal Theory

Yong Wang, Yongyan Wang*, Nan Qin, Sa Huang, Le Chang, Shunzheng Hou

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.39, No.1, pp. 121-131, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014464

Abstract The work presented in this paper was conducted to quantify the relationship between the pore characteristics and mechanical properties of white sandstone. The study include tests carried out under the coupling effects of chemical corrosion, temperature, nuclear magnetic resonance, and mechanical tests. Computer fractal theory was employed to describe and quantify the characteristics of the growth of pores in white sandstone under the same coupling effect. A custom developed program code, in the MATLAB software platform, was used for calculating the growths of the pores in white sandstone when subjected to coupling effects. The correlation between the computer fractal dimension… More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.12, No.2, pp. 53-64, 2009, DOI:10.3970/icces.2009.012.053

Abstract A new damage identification method based on Fractal theory and wavelet packet transform is presented in the paper. The damage identification method utilize frequency-based domain message, time-based domain message and space based domain message effectively. NeXT method were first employed to reduce loading effect of random vibration measured from structures and then the vibration sinal were decomposed into the certain level wavelet packet components. For every time array of wavelet packet component then need to calculate the mean FD values as the ultimated FD values to reduce noise effect. The location of damage in the beam can be determined by… More >

A Normal Contact Stiffness Model of Joint Surface Based on Fractal Theory

    Kuo Xu1, Yuan Yuan1,*, Lihua Zhang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.119, No.3, pp. 459-480, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.04677

Abstract Based on the fractal theory, a normal contact stiffness model is established. In the model, the asperity is initially in elastic deformation under contact interference. As the interference is increased, a transition from elastic to elastoplastic to full plastic deformation occurs in this order. The critical elastic interference, the first elastoplastic critical interference and the second elastoplastic critical interference are scale-dependent. According to the truncated asperity size distribution function, the relations between the total normal contact stiffness and the total contact load are obtained. The results show the total normal contact stiffness depends on the range of frequency indexes of… More >

    Yonggang Duan1, Ting Lu1, Mingqiang Wei1, Boming Yu2, Zhelun Zhang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.109-110, No.6, pp. 481-504, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.109.481

Abstract Analysis of Buckley-Leverett solution in fractal porous medium does prediction of water saturation profile a favor. On the approximation that porous medium consists of a bundle of tortuous capillaries, a physical conceptual Buckley- Leverett model of transient two-phase flow in fractal porous medium is developed based on the fractal characteristics of pore size distribution. The relationship between water saturation and distance is presented according to Buckley-Leverett solution, and the proposed Buckley-Leverett expression is the function of fractal structural parameters (such as pore fractal dimension, tortuosity fractal dimension, maximum and minimum diameters of capillaries) and fluid properties (such as viscosity, contact… More >
