Energy Management of Photovoltaic Plant for Smart Street Lighting System

    Rebhi M’hamed1,*, Himri Youcef2,3,*, Bouchiba Bousmaha1, Yaichi Mouaadh1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.12, pp. 4899-4918, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.070806 - 27 November 2025

Abstract Currently, most conventional street lighting systems use a constant light mode throughout the entire night, from sunset to sunrise, which results in high energy consumption and maintenance costs. Furthermore, scientific research predicts that energy consumption for street lighting will increase in the coming years due to growing demand and rising electricity prices. The dimming strategy is a current trend and a key concept in smart street lighting systems. It involves turning on the road lights only when a vehicle or pedestrian is detected; otherwise, the control system reduces the light intensity of the lamps. Power… More > Graphic Abstract

Adaptive Multi-Objective Energy Management Strategy Considering the Differentiated Demands of Distribution Networks with a High Proportion of New-Generation Sources and Loads

    Huang Tan1, Haibo Yu1, Tianyang Chen1, Hanjun Deng2, Yetong Hu3,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.5, pp. 1949-1973, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.062574 - 25 April 2025

Abstract With the increasing integration of emerging source-load types such as distributed photovoltaics, electric vehicles, and energy storage into distribution networks, the operational characteristics of these networks have evolved from traditional single-load centers to complex multi-source, multi-load systems. This transition not only increases the difficulty of effectively classifying distribution networks due to their heightened complexity but also renders traditional energy management approaches—primarily focused on economic objectives—insufficient to meet the growing demands for flexible scheduling and dynamic response. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an adaptive multi-objective energy management strategy that accounts for the distinct operational… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 2181-2197, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052406 - 15 August 2024

Abstract Object tracking is one of the major tasks for mobile robots in many real-world applications. Also, artificial intelligence and automatic control techniques play an important role in enhancing the performance of mobile robot navigation. In contrast to previous simulation studies, this paper presents a new intelligent mobile robot for accomplishing multi-tasks by tracking red-green-blue (RGB) colored objects in a real experimental field. Moreover, a practical smart controller is developed based on adaptive fuzzy logic and custom proportional-integral-derivative (PID) schemes to achieve accurate tracking results, considering robot command delay and tolerance errors. The design of developed… More >

Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Based on Fuzzy Logic Control Research on Multi-Layer Equilibrium Circuits

    Tiezhou Wu, Yukan Zhang*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.8, pp. 2231-2255, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.049883 - 19 July 2024

Abstract In order to solve the problem of inconsistent energy in the charging and discharging cycles of lithium-ion battery packs, a new multilayer equilibrium topology is designed in this paper. The structure adopts a hierarchical structure design, which includes intra-group equilibrium, primary inter-group equilibrium and secondary inter-group equilibrium. This structure greatly increases the number of equilibrium paths for lithium-ion batteries, thus shortening the time required for equilibrium, and improving the overall efficiency. In terms of control strategy, fuzzy logic control (FLC) is chosen to control the size of the equilibrium current during the equilibrium process. We… More >

Enhanced Perturb and Observe Control Algorithm for a Standalone Domestic Renewable Energy System

    N. Kanagaraj1,*, Obaid Aldosari1, M. Ramasamy2, M. Vijayakumar2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 2291-2306, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039101 - 21 June 2023

Abstract The generation of electricity, considering environmental and economic factors is one of the most important challenges of recent years. In this article, a thermoelectric generator (TEG) is proposed to use the thermal energy of an electric water heater (EWH) to generate electricity independently. To improve the energy conversion efficiency of the TEG, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC)-based perturb & observe (P&O) type maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control algorithm is used in this study. An EWH is one of the major electricity consuming household appliances which causes a higher electricity price for consumers. Also, a… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 5471-5499, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.036898 - 29 April 2023

Abstract The requirement for high-quality seafood is a global challenge in today’s world due to climate change and natural resource limitations. Internet of Things (IoT) based Modern fish farming systems can significantly optimize seafood production by minimizing resource utilization and improving healthy fish production. This objective requires intensive monitoring, prediction, and control by optimizing leading factors that impact fish growth, including temperature, the potential of hydrogen (pH), water level, and feeding rate. This paper proposes the IoT based predictive optimization approach for efficient control and energy utilization in smart fish farming. The proposed fish farm control… More >

Design of Fuzzy Logic Control Framework for QoS Routing in MANET

    M. Vargheese1,*, S. Vanithamani2, D. Stalin David3, Ganga Rama Koteswara Rao4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3479-3499, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.030948 - 17 August 2022

Abstract Wireless networks with no infrastructure arise as a result of multiple wireless devices working together. The Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a system for connecting independently located Mobile Nodes (MNs) via wireless links. A MANET is self-configuring in telecommunications, while MN produces non-infrastructure networks that are entirely decentralized. Both the MAC and routing layers of MANETs take into account issues related to Quality of Service (QoS). When culling a line of optical discernment communication, MANET can be an effective and cost-saving route cull option. To maintain QoS, however, more or fewer challenges must be overcome. An Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System to Improve Fractional Order Controller Performance

    N. Kanagaraj*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3213-3226, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.029901 - 17 August 2022

Abstract The design and analysis of a fractional order proportional integral derivate (FOPID) controller integrated with an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is proposed in this study. A first order plus delay time plant model has been used to validate the ANFIS combined FOPID control scheme. In the proposed adaptive control structure, the intelligent ANFIS was designed such that it will dynamically adjust the fractional order factors (λ and µ) of the FOPID (also known as PIλDµ) controller to achieve better control performance. When the plant experiences uncertainties like external load disturbances or sudden changes in the… More >
