New Hybrid EWMA Charts for Efficient Process Dispersion Monitoring with Application in Automobile Industry

    Xuechen Liu1, Majid Khan2, Zahid Rasheed3, Syed Masroor Anwar4,*, Muhammad Arslan5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.2, pp. 1171-1195, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019199

Abstract The EWMA charts are the well-known memory-type charts used for monitoring the small-to-intermediate shifts in the process parameters (location and/or dispersion). The hybrid EWMA (HEWMA) charts are enhanced version of the EWMA charts, which effectively monitor the process parameters. This paper aims to develop two new uppersided HEWMA charts for monitoring shifts in process variance, i.e., HEWMA1 and HEWMA2 charts. The design structures of the proposed HEWMA1 and HEWMA2 charts are based on the concept of integrating the features of two EWMA charts. The HEWMA1 and HEWMA2 charts plotting statistics are developed using one EWMA statistic as input for the… More >

Two-Stage Fuzzy MCDM for Green Supplier Selection in Steel Industry

    Chia-Nan Wang, Thi-Ly Nguyen*, Thanh-Tuan Dang

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 1245-1260, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024548

Abstract Steel is one of the most powerful industries globally, and the associated products have a tremendous impact on nurturing a sustainable society. Considering environmental concerns within this industry's supply chain is highly successful in saving both energy and natural resources and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. In light of this, sustainable suppliers are considered input partners who play a specific role in the chain of business operations of every enterprise, maintaining them to achieve higher levels of customer satisfaction and thus gain more market share. Supplier selection can be characterized as a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem under a vague and uncertain… More >

    Hosam Alhakami1, Abdullah Baz2, Wajdi Alhakami3, Abhishek Kumar Pandey4, Alka Agrawal4, Raees Ahmad Khan4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.3, pp. 1015-1030, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.021564

Abstract Transformation from conventional business management systems to smart digital systems is a recurrent trend in the current era. This has led to digital revolution, and in this context, the hardwired technologies in the software industry play a significant role However, from the beginning, software security remains a serious issue for all levels of stakeholders. Software vulnerabilities lead to intrusions that cause data breaches and result in disclosure of sensitive data, compromising the organizations’ reputation that translates into, financial losses and compromising software usability as well. Most of the data breaches are financially motivated, especially in the healthcare sector. The cyber… More >

Optimization Model in Manufacturing Scheduling for the Garment Industry

    Chia-Nan Wang1, Yu-Chen Wei2, Po-Yuk So3,*, Viet Tinh Nguyen4, Phan Nguyen Ky Phuc5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 5875-5889, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023880

Abstract The garment industry in Vietnam is one of the country's strongest industries in the world. However, the production process still encounters problems regarding scheduling that does not equate to an optimal process. The paper introduces a production scheduling solution that resolves the potential delays and lateness that hinders the production process using integer programming and order allocation with a make-to-order manufacturing viewpoint. A number of constraints were considered in the model and is applied to a real case study of a factory in order to view how the tardiness and lateness would be affected which resulted in optimizing the scheduling… More >

Industrial Automation Information Analogy for Smart Grid Security

    Muhammad Asif1, Ishfaq Ali1, Shahbaz Ahmad1, Azeem Irshad2, Akber Abid Gardezi3, Fawaz Alassery4, Habib Hamam5, Muhammad Shafiq6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 3985-3999, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023010

Abstract Industrial automation or assembly automation is a strictly monitored environment, in which changes occur at a good speed. There are many types of entities in the focusing environment, and the data generated by these devices is huge. In addition, because the robustness is achieved by sensing redundant data, the data becomes larger. The data generating device, whether it is a sensing device or a physical device, streams the data to a higher-level deception device for calculation, so that it can be driven and configured according to the updated conditions. With the emergence of the Industry 4.0 concept that includes a… More >

Impact of Flow Rate in Integration with Solar Radiation on Color and COD Removal in Dye Contaminated Textile Industry Wastewater: Optimization Study

    Pradeep K. Majhi1, Rifat Azam1, Richa Kothari2,*, Naveen Kumar Arora1, V. V. Tyagi3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 419-427, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.016973

Abstract Dyes are an integral part of the dying industry and have significantly resulted in environmental pollution by altering the standard water quality after their discharge into the water bodies. The culprits behind the altered water quality are the pretreatment chemicals used during dying manufacturing processes. Various advanced treatment methods using conventional and advanced treatment options including solar energy have been put forth by researchers for the treatment of the dying effluents but, these methods have not proved significantly considerable. Therefore, the present study intends to check the efficiency of solar parabolic trough collector for treating the dying effluents in terms… More >

Discount Rate of China’s New Energy Power Industry

    Yafei Rong1, Xudong Sun1,2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 315-329, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.015485

Abstract Under the dual pressures of energy crisis and environmental pollution, China’s new energy power industry has become a focal point for environmental management and requires greater investment. In this context, as a significant input of investment projects, discount rate requires a well-calibrated evaluation because new energy power investment projects are highly capital intensive. The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the discount rate of China’s new energy power industry. First, we use Moving Average to correct the parameters of capital asset pricing model (CAPM) and weighted average cost of capital, which extends the literature on the avoidance of… More >

Machine Learning for Modeling and Control of Industrial Clarifier Process

    M. Rajalakshmi1, V. Saravanan2, V. Arunprasad3, C. A. T. Romero4, O. I. Khalaf5, C. Karthik1,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 339-359, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021696

Abstract In sugar production, model parameter estimation and controller tuning of the nonlinear clarification process are major concerns. Because the sugar industry’s clarification process is difficult and nonlinear, obtaining the exact model using identification methods is critical. For regulating the clarification process and identifying the model parameters, this work presents a state transition algorithm (STA). First, the model parameters for the clarifier are estimated using the normal system identification process. The STA is then utilized to improve the accuracy of the system parameters that have been identified. Metaheuristic algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and State Transition… More >
