    Qi Zhang1,2,4,5, Zhixin Chen3, Yang Wu4,*, Guoqi Xiang2, Guang Wen1, Xuegang Zhang2, Yongchun Xie2, Guangchun Yang2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.140, No.1, pp. 593-619, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.046319

Abstract Although there is currently no unified standard theoretical formula for calculating the contact stress of cylindrical gears with a circular arc tooth trace (referred to as CATT gear), a mathematical model for determining the contact stress of CATT gear is essential for studying how parameters affect its contact stress and building the contact stress limit state equation for contact stress reliability analysis. In this study, a mathematical relationship between design parameters and contact stress is formulated using the Kriging Metamodel. To enhance the model’s accuracy, we propose a new hybrid algorithm that merges the genetic algorithm with the Quantum Particle… More >

Jinlong Yang, Kwang-Hee Lee, Chul-Hee Lee*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.3, pp. 2917-2946, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.046740

Abstract Cavitation is a common issue in pumps, causing a decrease in pump head, a fall in volumetric efficiency, and an intensification of outlet flow pulsation. It is one of the main hazards that affect the regular operation of the pump. Research on pump cavitation mainly focuses on mixed flow pumps, jet pumps, external spur gear pumps, etc. However, there are few cavitation studies on external herringbone gear pumps. In addition, pumps with different working principles significantly differ in the flow and complexity of the internal flow field. Therefore, it is urgent to study the cavitation characteristics of external herringbone gear… More >

Adventitious Root Regeneration: Molecular Basis and Influencing Factors

    Lulu Zhi, Xiangyang Hu*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.10, pp. 2825-2840, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.030912

Abstract Plant regeneration is a self-repair of the plant body in response to adverse conditions or damaged structures, and root regeneration allows the plant body to better adapt to its environment by supplementing the roots’ structure. Previous research has shown that adventitious roots can be made to occur from scratch in two ways. Studies that simulate adventitious root regeneration through natural conditions allow the regeneration process to be broadly divided into three stages: the perception of early signals, the massive accumulation of auxin, and the transformation of cell fate. The strength of regeneration, in turn, is influenced by wounding, stress, hormones,… More >

Qifen Li, Yuanbo Hou*, Yongwen Yang, Liting Zhang, Xiaoxiao Yan

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.8, pp. 3333-3350, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.027464

Abstract Reducing CO2 to produce methane through microbial electrolytic cell (MEC) is one of the important methods of CO2 resource utilization. In view of the problem of low methanogenesis rate and weak CO2 conversion rate in the reduction process, the flow field environment of the cathode chamber is changed by changing the upper gas circulation rate and the lower liquid circulation rate of the cathode chamber to explore the impact on the reactor startup and operation and products. The results showed that under certain conditions, the CO2 consumption and methane production rate could be increased by changing the upper gas recirculation… More >
