    Jin Zhu1,2,*, Yanxin Xu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.144, No.3, pp. 2849-2872, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.070287 - 30 September 2025

Abstract Ice accretion on structures such as aircraft wings and wind turbine blades poses serious risks to aerodynamic performance and operational safety, particularly in cold and humid environments. This study conducts numerical simulations of ice formation on thin flat plates using CFD and FENSAP-ICE, exploring how air temperature, wind velocity, and angle of attack (AOA) affect icing behavior and aerodynamic characteristics. Results indicate that ice thickness increases linearly over time. Rime ice forms at low temperatures due to immediate droplet freezing, whereas glaze ice develops at higher temperatures when a water film forms and subsequently refreezes… More >

    Yu Sang1, Anqi Du1, Changqing Ye1, Jianhua Xiang1, Yi Chen1, Yazhou Guo2, Le Shen3,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.21, No.7, pp. 1623-1639, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2025.065832 - 31 July 2025

Abstract In the context of the global “Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality” initiative, the injection of carbon dioxide (CO2) into depleted gas reservoirs represents a dual-purpose strategy—facilitating long-term carbon sequestration while enhancing hydrocarbon recovery. However, variations in injection parameters at the wellhead can exert pronounced effects on the temperature and pressure conditions at the bottom of the well. These variations, in turn, influence the geomechanical behavior of reservoir rocks and the displacement efficiency of CO2 within the formation. Precise prediction of downhole thermodynamic conditions is therefore essential for optimizing injection performance and ensuring reservoir stability. To address… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.6, pp. 2337-2354, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.062530 - 29 May 2025

Abstract The J oilfield in the Bohai has a long development history and has undergone comprehensive adjustment measures, including water injection and polymer injection. Following these adjustments, the injection and production well network now features coexistence of both polymer injection wells and water injection wells, which has negatively impacted production dynamics. Firstly, based on the adjusted reservoir well network in the J oilfield, a representative water-polymer co-injection well network was established. Subsequently, a numerical simulation model of this typical reservoir unit was developed using reservoir numerical simulation methods to confirm the interference issues associated with water-polymer More >

    Qi Zhang1,2,4,5, Zhixin Chen3, Yang Wu4,*, Guoqi Xiang2, Guang Wen1, Xuegang Zhang2, Yongchun Xie2, Guangchun Yang2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.140, No.1, pp. 593-619, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.046319 - 16 April 2024

Abstract Although there is currently no unified standard theoretical formula for calculating the contact stress of cylindrical gears with a circular arc tooth trace (referred to as CATT gear), a mathematical model for determining the contact stress of CATT gear is essential for studying how parameters affect its contact stress and building the contact stress limit state equation for contact stress reliability analysis. In this study, a mathematical relationship between design parameters and contact stress is formulated using the Kriging Metamodel. To enhance the model’s accuracy, we propose a new hybrid algorithm that merges the genetic… More >

Abstract Cavitation is a common issue in pumps, causing a decrease in pump head, a fall in volumetric efficiency, and an intensification of outlet flow pulsation. It is one of the main hazards that affect the regular operation of the pump. Research on pump cavitation mainly focuses on mixed flow pumps, jet pumps, external spur gear pumps, etc. However, there are few cavitation studies on external herringbone gear pumps. In addition, pumps with different working principles significantly differ in the flow and complexity of the internal flow field. Therefore, it is urgent to study the cavitation… More >

Adventitious Root Regeneration: Molecular Basis and Influencing Factors

    Lulu Zhi, Xiangyang Hu*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.10, pp. 2825-2840, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.030912 - 15 September 2023

Abstract Plant regeneration is a self-repair of the plant body in response to adverse conditions or damaged structures, and root regeneration allows the plant body to better adapt to its environment by supplementing the roots’ structure. Previous research has shown that adventitious roots can be made to occur from scratch in two ways. Studies that simulate adventitious root regeneration through natural conditions allow the regeneration process to be broadly divided into three stages: the perception of early signals, the massive accumulation of auxin, and the transformation of cell fate. The strength of regeneration, in turn, is More >
