Random Forest and Order Parameters: A Combined Framework for Scenario Recognition for Power Systems with Renewable Penetration

    Xiaolong Xiao1, Xiaoxing Lu1,*, Ziran Guo1, Jian Liu1, Shenglong Wu2, Ye Cai2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.8, pp. 3117-3132, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.065631 - 24 July 2025

Abstract With the popularization of microgrid construction and the connection of renewable energy sources to the power system, the problem of source and load uncertainty faced by the coordinated operation of multi-microgrid is becoming increasingly prominent, and the accuracy of typical scenario predictions is low. In order to improve the accuracy of scenario prediction under source and load uncertainty, this paper proposes a typical scenario identification model based on random forests and order parameters. Firstly, a method for ordinal parameter identification and quantification is provided for the coordinated operating mode of multi-microgrids, taking into account source-load… More >

Multi-Timescale Optimization Scheduling of Distribution Networks Based on the Uncertainty Intervals in Source-Load Forecasting

Huanan Yu, Chunhe Ye, Shiqiang Li*, He Wang, Jing Bian, Jinling Li

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.6, pp. 2417-2448, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.061214 - 29 May 2025

Abstract With the increasing integration of large-scale distributed energy resources into the grid, traditional distribution network optimization and dispatch methods struggle to address the challenges posed by both generation and load. Accounting for these issues, this paper proposes a multi-timescale coordinated optimization dispatch method for distribution networks. First, the probability box theory was employed to determine the uncertainty intervals of generation and load forecasts, based on which, the requirements for flexibility dispatch and capacity constraints of the grid were calculated and analyzed. Subsequently, a multi-timescale optimization framework was constructed, incorporating the generation and load forecast uncertainties. More >

A New Framework for Employing Responsive End-Users Using FAHP and PSO Algorithm

    Reza Etemad1, Mohammad Sadegh Ghazizadeh1, Mehrdad Ahmadi Kamarposhti2,*, Ilhami Colak3, Kei Eguchi4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 951-964, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032631 - 22 September 2022

Abstract The capacitor bank and synchronous condenser have been the only available sources of reactive power. Nowadays, most of the appliances use a power electronic interface for their connection. Applying a power electronic interface adds many features to these appliances. One of the promising features is their capability to interact with Volt-VAR programs. In this paper was investigated the reactive power interaction of the end-user appliances. For this purpose, the distribution network buses are ranked based on their effectiveness, followed by studying their interaction in the Volt-VAR program. To be able to consider the uncertainties, Probability More >
