    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1265-1276, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032861

Abstract An effective communication application necessitates the cancellation of Impulsive Noise (IN) from Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), which is widely used for wireless applications due to its higher data rate and greater spectral efficiency. The OFDM system is typically corrupted by Impulsive Noise, which is an unwanted short-duration pulse with random amplitude and duration. Impulsive noise is created by humans and has non-Gaussian characteristics, causing problems in communication systems such as high capacity loss and poor error rate performance. Several techniques have been introduced in the literature to solve this type of problem, but they still have many issues that… More >

Development of a Novel Extrusion Process for Preparing Rice Straw/LLDPE Composites

Huicheng Xu, Hao Xie, Weidong Shan, Weihong Wang*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 1123-1135, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.023959

Abstract Straw utilization is a key issue related to agricultural production and air pollution control. In this study, a novel extrusion process was proposed to improve the physical and mechanical properties of the straw-reinforced linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) composite. Instead of crushing the straw and mixing it with plastic matrix, the new method mixes straw with plastic matrix in its original form. The intact long rice straws were parallelly spread on the LLDPE film and then rolled up together into a prefabricated roll. The rolls experienced three extrusion processes as follows: (1) twin-screw melting, cooling and crushing, single-screw extruding; (2) twin-screw… More >

Effect of Active Zeolite in the Pyrolysis of Polypropylene and Low Density Polyethylene Types of Plastic Waste

    Aman Santoso1,*, Amirotus Sholikhah1, Sumari Sumari1, Muhammad Roy Asrori1, Anugrah Ricky Wijaya1, Rini Retnosari1,2, Ihsan Budi Rachman1,3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.11, pp. 2781-2789, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021401

Abstract Plastic is a basic need for humans, but it has also caused big problems for the environment. Then, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the type of plastic and the addition of a zeolite catalyst on the oil yield from the pyrolysis of plastic waste. The research stages were natural zeolite activation, pyrolysis reactor settings, pyrolysis of plastic waste (PP and LDPE types), and characterization. The results showed that the used natural zeolite had a mordenite phase and activated natural zeolite had a higher Si/Al ratio than the inactivated one. The addition of a zeolite… More > Graphic Abstract

Amorphous Polylactide Bead Foam–Effect of Talc and Chain Extension on Foaming Behavior and Compression Properties

    Christian Brütting1, Julia Dreier2, Christian Bonten2, Volker Altstädt1, Holger Ruckdäschel1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.11, pp. 1859-1868, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.016244

Abstract Polylactide (PLA) bead foams show a high potential regarding their applicability in packaging or consumer products. Concerning the comparable properties of PLA to Polystyrene (PS) and the good CO2 footprint it represents a potential alternative to petroleum-based polymer foams. However, foaming of PLA is challenging, due to its low melt strength, therefore chemical modifiers are often used. Concerning the bead foam technology regarding PLA, the available literature is limited so far. Within this study, the bead foaming behavior of neat and modified amorphous PLA was investigated. The material was modified by talc and an epoxy-based chain extender. These compounds have… More >

LDPC Code’s Decoding Algorithms for Wireless Sensor Network: a Brief Review

    Weidong Fang1, Wuxiong Zhang1,2, Lianhai Shan1,*, Biruk Assefa3, Wei Chen4

    Journal of New Media, Vol.1, No.1, pp. 45-50, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jnm.2019.05786

Abstract As an effective error correction technology, the Low Density Parity Check Code (LDPC) has been researched and applied by many scholars. Meanwhile, LDPC codes have some prominent performances, which involves close to the Shannon limit, achieving a higher bit rate and a fast decoding. However, whether these excellent characteristics are suitable for the resource-constrained Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), it seems to be seldom concerned. In this article, we review the LDPC code’s structure brief.ly, and them classify and summarize the LDPC codes’ construction and decoding algorithms, finally, analyze the applications of LDPC code for WSN. We believe that our contributions… More >
