    A Low-Cost and High-Performance Cryptosystem Using Tripling-Oriented Elliptic Curve

    Mohammad Alkhatib*, Wafa S. Aldalbahy

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 1807-1831, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.038927

Abstract Developing a high-performance public key cryptosystem is crucial for numerous modern security applications. The Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem (ECC) has performance and resource-saving advantages compared to other types of asymmetric ciphers. However, the sequential design implementation for ECC does not satisfy the current applications’ performance requirements. Therefore, several factors should be considered to boost the cryptosystem performance, including the coordinate system, the scalar multiplication algorithm, and the elliptic curve form. The tripling-oriented (3DIK) form is implemented in this work due to its minimal computational complexity compared to other elliptic curves forms. This experimental study explores the factors playing an important role… More >

Intelligent SLAM Algorithm Fusing Low-Cost Sensors at Risk of Building Collapses

    Dahyeon Kim, Junho Ahn*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1657-1671, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.029216

Abstract When firefighters search inside a building that is at risk of collapse due to abandonment or disasters such as fire, they use old architectural drawings or a simple monitoring method involving a video device attached to a robot. However, using these methods, the disaster situation inside a building at risk of collapse is difficult to detect and identify. Therefore, we investigate the generation of digital maps for a disaster site to accurately analyze internal situations. In this study, a robot combined with a low-cost camera and two-dimensional light detection and ranging (2D-lidar) traverses across a floor to estimate the location… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 2821-2835, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026279

Abstract Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a method of capturing the electrophysiological signal of the brain. An EEG headset is a wearable device that records electrophysiological data from the brain. This paper presents the design and fabrication of a customized low-cost Electroencephalogram (EEG) headset based on the open-source OpenBCI Ultracortex Mark IV system. The electrode placement locations are modified under a 10–20 standard system. The fabricated headset is then compared to commercially available headsets based on the following parameters: affordability, accessibility, noise, signal quality, and cost. First, the data is recorded from 20 subjects who used the EEG Headset, and signals were recorded.… More >

Low-Cost Real-Time Automated Optical Inspection Using Deep Learning and Attention Map

Yu Shih, Chien-Chih Kuo, Ching-Hung Lee*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 2087-2099, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027659

Abstract The recent trends in Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things have encouraged many factory managers to improve inspection processes to achieve automation and high detection rates. However, the corresponding cost results of sample tests are still used for quality control. A low-cost automated optical inspection system that can be integrated with production lines to fully inspect products without adjustments is introduced herein. The corresponding mechanism design enables each product to maintain a fixed position and orientation during inspection to accelerate the inspection process. The proposed system combines image recognition and deep learning to measure the dimensions of the thread and… More >

Low-Cost IMU Sensors for Satellite Maturity Improvement

Omar Ben Bahri*, Abdullah Alhumaidi Alotaibi

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 1315-1326, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.024979

Abstract The satellite technology proves its impact in the modern era with its wide benefits and applications. However, the cost of the development in this field presents gaps in many countries, almost the developed countries. Therefore, this paper provides a rich platform around low-cost sensors in order to improve maturity in space technology, mostly the system of attitude determination and control. The development of this knowledge turns out to be very interesting in order to achieve a space mission which leads to the progression of the spatial technology readiness level (TRL) defined by the international measurement scale which is able to… More >

A New Intelligent Approach for Deaf/Dumb People based on Deep Learning

    Haitham Elwahsh1,*, Ahmed Elkhouly1, Emad Abouel Nasr2, Ali K. Kamrani3, Engy El-shafeiy4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 6045-6060, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026309

    Abstract

People who are deaf or have difficulty speaking use sign language, which consists of hand gestures with particular motions that symbolize the “language” they are communicating. A gesture in a sign language is a particular movement of the hands with a specific shape from the fingers and whole hand. In this paper, we present an Intelligent for Deaf/Dumb People approach in real time based on Deep Learning using Gloves (IDLG). The approach IDLG offers scientific contributions based deep-learning, a multi-mode command techniques, real-time, and effective use, and high accuracy rates. For this purpose, smart gloves working in real time were… More >

Low-Cost Flexible Graphite Monopole Patch Antenna for Wireless Communication Applications

    Suwat Sakulchat1, Amnoiy Ruengwaree1,*, Voranuch Thongpool2, Watcharaphon Naktong3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 6069-6088, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024050

Abstract This research investigates a monopole patch antenna for Wi-Fi applications at 2.45 and 5.2 GHz, and WiMax at 3.5 GHz. A low-cost and flexible graphite sheet with good conductivity, base on graphite conductive powder and glue is used to create a radiator patch and ground plane. Instead of commercially available conductive inks or graphite sheets, we use our self-produced graphite liquid to create the graphite sheet because it is easy to produce and inexpensive. The antenna structure is formed using a low-cost and easy hand-screen printing approach that involved placing graphite liquid on a bendable polyester substrate. This research focuses… More >

Vision-Aided Path Planning Using Low-Cost Gene Encoding for a Mobile Robot

Wei-Cheng Wang, Chow-Yong Ng, Rongshun Chen*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 991-1006, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022067

Abstract Path planning is intrinsically regarded as a multi-objective optimization problem (MOOP) that simultaneously optimizes the shortest path and the least collision-free distance to obstacles. This work develops a novel optimized approach using the genetic algorithm (GA) to drive the multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) for the path planning of a mobile robot in a given finite environment. To represent the positions of a mobile robot as integer-type genes in a chromosome of the GA, a grid-based method is also introduced to relax the complex environment to a simple grid-based map. The system architecture is composed of a mobile robot, embedded with… More >
