Applying t-SNE to Estimate Image Sharpness of Low-cost Nailfold Capillaroscopy

    Hung-Hsiang Wang1, Chih-Ping Chen2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 237-254, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020665

Abstract Machine learning can classify the image clarity of low-cost nailfold capillaroscopy (NC) and can be applied to the design verification for other medical devices. The method can be beneficial for systems that require a large number of image datasets. This investigation covers the design, integration, image sharpness estimation, and deconvolution sharpening of the NC. The study applies this device to record two videos and extract 600 photos, including blurry and sharp images. It then uses the Laplace operator method for blur detection of the pictures. Statistics are recorded for each image’s Laplace score and the distribution of clear photos in… More >

    Anabi Hilary Kelechi1, Mohammed H. Alsharif2, Chidumebi Agbaetuo3, Osichinaka Ubadike1, Alex Aligbe1, Peerapong Uthansakul4,*, Raju Kannadasan5, Ayman A. Aly6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 151-169, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019431

Abstract The impact of daily emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants of machines and industries on human health and the environment has attracted increasing concerns. This impact has significantly led to a notable increase in mortality in the highly industrialized zones. Therefore, monitoring air quality and creating public awareness are important for a safer future, which led the governments globally to invest multi-billion in policymaking and solution stratification to address the problem. This study aims to design a real-time Internet of Things low-cost air quality monitoring system. The system utilizes air quality and carbon monoxide sensors for monitoring gaseous pollutants. Moreover,… More >

Development of A Low-Cost Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation and Mobility

    Muhatasim Intisar1, Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan1,*, Mehedi Masud2, Mohammad Shorfuzzaman2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 101-115, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019083

Abstract Paralysis is detrimental to people in catastrophic ways: losing income opportunities, becoming a burden to their friends and family, further physical deterioration, and the combination of these occurrences can often lead to depression. In third world countries, suffering from paralysis can be extra deleterious, where a large proportion of the population is engaged in some form of physical labor. The number of people exposed to paralysis risk factors is also increasing, with more and more people having hypertension, smoking, and other abnormalities. Besides, low workplace safety precautions may lead to an increased risk of spinal cord injury in developing nations.… More >

A Low-Cost 3-Axis Computer Controlled Filament-Winding Pattern Design Method for Composite Elbows

    Guiying Wang1, Xigui Wang1,*, Hong Zhao2, Yinggang Huang1, Jinyong Ju1, E. E Erdun3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 651-662, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.019274

Abstract The aeronautics and aerospace industries often require special-shaped parts made from lightweight materials with a constant resistance, such as filament winding composite elbows and tees. Filament winding patterns can be realized using numerically controlled filament winding machines. Herein, a 3-axis computer controlled filament winding machine is proposed to solve existing problems with winding of composite elbows such as inconsistent quality, low productivity, and high costs. In this study, a geodesic winding equation for the torus and non-geodesic winding equation for the cylindrical sections of the elbow are provided and the winding angle α’ is optimized. Furthermore, the correspondence relationship between… More >

Design and Implementation of a Low-Cost Portable Water Quality Monitoring System

    Anabi Hilary Kelechi1, Mohammed H. Alsharif2, Anya Chukwudi-eke Anya3, Mathias U. Bonet1, Samson Aiyudubie Uyi1, Peerapong Uthansakul4,*, Jamel Nebhen5, Ayman A. Aly6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 2405-2424, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018686

Abstract Water is one of the needs with remarkable significance to man and other living things. Water quality management is a concept based on the continuous monitoring of water quality. The monitoring scheme aims to accumulate data to make decisions on water resource descriptions, identify real and emergent issues involving water pollution, formulate priorities, and plan for water quality management. The regularly considered parameters when conducting water quality monitoring are turbidity, pH, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, ammonia, and metal ions. The usual method employed in capturing these water parameters is the manual collection and sending… More >
