MODELLING AND EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION OF COMBUSTION IN STRAIGHT INOCULATION COMPRESSION IGNITION ENGINE FUELLED WITH DIESEL AND JATROPHA METHYL ESTER BLEND

    Biswajit De*, Rajsekhar Panua

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-6, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.11

Abstract An incorporated arithmetical model has been urbanized and investigated for CFD replication of a solitary cylinder, four stroke, straight inoculation, compressed ignition diesel engine of 3.5 kW for in-cylinder combustion analysis and authenticated under engine simulations at full load functioning conditions with foundation fuel diesel and 10% JME (volume basis) blend with diesel at invariable speed of 1500 rpm. For advancing the exactness of the exertion, a number of sub models, such as species transport model explaining the actual biodiesel energy content and molecular structure as soon as fuel blend is initiated, spray break-up model, wave model and pre-mixed combustion… More >

Analysis of the Emissions and Performance of a Diesel Engine Using Pumpkin Seed Oil Methyl Ester with Different Injection Pressures

    Surendrababu Kuppusamy1,*, Prabhahar Muthuswamy2, Muthurajan Kumarasamy3, Sendilvelan Subramanian4

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 1003-1014, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022262

Abstract Biodiesel fuel is a potential alternative energy source for diesel engines due to its physiochemical characteristics relatively similar to those of traditional diesel fuel. In this study, the performance, emission, and combustion features of a mono cylinder DI diesel engine are assessed using 20% Pumpkin seed methyl ester (PSOME20) and considering varying injection pressures (200, 220, 240, and 260 bar). The considered Pumpkin seed oil is converted into pumpkin biodiesel by transesterification and then used as fuel. The findings demonstrate that the Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE) of PSOME20 can be raised by 1.68%, and the carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbon (HC),… More > Graphic Abstract

Methyl Ester Type Produced by Catalytic Transesterification: From Various Oil Feedstock to Biodiesel Products

Aman Santoso*, Sumari Sumari, Muhammad Roy Asrori

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.6, pp. 2255-2276, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.021596

Abstract Biodiesel research has been carried out via transesterification. However, biodiesel products (methyl esters) have not encountered new insights, because feedstocks have been explored and studied. Various optimum conditions on transesterification reaction could produce different methyl ester type with different compound. So, this review describes various oil feedstock that were to find new insights about methyl ester type. The review took the results of study that has been published with experience for 10 years. The results of the study reviewed on the transesterification method, characterization of methyl esters, and its components. The component reviewed and correlated to the literature, structure, and… More > Graphic Abstract
