Pothole Detection Based on UAV Photogrammetry

Muhammad Aliff Haiqal Darmawan1, Shahrul Nizan Abd Mukti2, Khairul Nizam Tahar1,*

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.34, pp. 21-35, 2025, DOI:10.32604/rig.2024.057266 - 13 January 2025

Abstract Potholes are the most prevalent type of structural defect found on roads, caused by aging infrastructure, heavy rains, heavy traffic, thin or weak substructures, and other factors. Regular assessment of road conditions is essential for maintaining and improving road networks. Current techniques for identifying potholes on urban roadways primarily rely on public reporting, such as hotlines or social networking websites, which are both time-consuming and inefficient. This study aims to detect potholes using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) images, enabling accurate analysis of their size, shape, and location, thereby enhancing detection efficiency compared to conventional methods.… More >

Transforming Education with Photogrammetry: Creating Realistic 3D Objects for Augmented Reality Applications

    Kaviyaraj Ravichandran*, Uma Mohan*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.142, No.1, pp. 185-208, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.056387 - 17 December 2024

Abstract Augmented reality (AR) is an emerging dynamic technology that effectively supports education across different levels. The increased use of mobile devices has an even greater impact. As the demand for AR applications in education continues to increase, educators actively seek innovative and immersive methods to engage students in learning. However, exploring these possibilities also entails identifying and overcoming existing barriers to optimal educational integration. Concurrently, this surge in demand has prompted the identification of specific barriers, one of which is three-dimensional (3D) modeling. Creating 3D objects for augmented reality education applications can be challenging and… More > Graphic Abstract

Integrated Evolving Spiking Neural Network and Feature Extraction Methods for Scoliosis Classification

Nurbaity Sabri1,2,*, Haza Nuzly Abdull Hamed1, Zaidah Ibrahim3, Kamalnizat Ibrahim4, Mohd Adham Isa1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5559-5573, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.029221 - 28 July 2022

Abstract Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) is a deformity of the spine that affects teenagers. The current method for detecting AIS is based on radiographic images which may increase the risk of cancer growth due to radiation. Photogrammetry is another alternative used to identify AIS by distinguishing the curves of the spine from the surface of a human’s back. Currently, detecting the curve of the spine is manually performed, making it a time-consuming task. To overcome this issue, it is crucial to develop a better model that automatically detects the curve of the spine and classify the… More >
