    Yingchao Li1,*, Jianbin Wang1, Haibin Wang2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.4, pp. 1049-1065, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.045228

Abstract With the increasing demand for electrical services, wind farm layout optimization has been one of the biggest challenges that we have to deal with. Despite the promising performance of the heuristic algorithm on the route network design problem, the expressive capability and search performance of the algorithm on multi-objective problems remain unexplored. In this paper, the wind farm layout optimization problem is defined. Then, a multi-objective algorithm based on Graph Neural Network (GNN) and Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) algorithm is proposed. GNN provides the basis representations for the following search algorithm so that the expressiveness and search accuracy of the… More >

Control of Distributed Generation Using Non-Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation

    Mehrdad Ahmadi Kamarposhti1,*, Phatiphat Thounthong2, Ilhami Colak3, Kei Eguchi4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 4149-4164, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033405

Abstract The islanded mode is one of the connection modes of the grid distributed generation resources. In this study, a distributed generation resource is connected to linear and nonlinear loads via a three-phase inverter where a control method needing no current sensors or compensator elements is applied to the distribute generation system in the islanded mode. This control method has two main loops in each phase. The first loop controls the voltage control loops that adjust the three-phase point of common coupling, the amplitude of the non-sinusoidal reference waveform and the near-state pulse width modulation (NSPWM) method. The next loop compensatesthe… More >

Enhancement of Large Renewable Distributed Generation Penetration Levels at the Point of Common Coupling

Akinyemi Ayodeji Stephen*, Kabeya Musasa, Innocent Ewean Davidson

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.6, pp. 2711-2744, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.023069

Abstract The occurrence of distortion and over voltage at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) of Renewable Distributed Generation (RDG) limits its penetration levels to the power system and the RDG integration is expected to play a crucial role in power system transformation. For its penetrations to be sustained without disconnection from the system, there must be a solution to the voltage rise, distortion, unbalanced current and grid reactive power control strategy at PCC. It is an IEEE-1547 requirement that RDG integration to the power system should be regulated at PCC to avoid disconnection from the network due to power quality… More > Graphic Abstract
