    Linguo Li1,2, Shujing Li1,*, Jian Su3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 2355-2366, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.019409

Abstract Brain tumor is one of the most common tumors with high mortality. Early detection is of great significance for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The single channel convolution layer and pool layer of traditional convolutional neural network (CNN) structure can only accept limited local context information. And most of the current methods only focus on the classification of benign and malignant brain tumors, multi classification of brain tumors is not common. In response to these shortcomings, considering that convolution kernels of different sizes can extract more comprehensive features, we put forward the multi-size convolutional kernel module. And considering that… More >

    Dengyong Zhang1,2, Jiawei Hu1,2, Feng Li1,2,*, Xiangling Ding3, Arun Kumar Sangaiah4, Victor S. Sheng5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 1503-1517, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017089

Abstract In the past several years, remarkable achievements have been made in the field of object detection. Although performance is generally improving, the accuracy of small object detection remains low compared with that of large object detection. In addition, localization misalignment issues are common for small objects, as seen in GoogLeNets and residual networks (ResNets). To address this problem, we propose an improved region-based fully convolutional network (R-FCN). The presented technique improves detection accuracy and eliminates localization misalignment by replacing position-sensitive region of interest (PS-RoI) pooling with position-sensitive precise region of interest (PS-Pr-RoI) pooling, which avoids coordinate quantization and directly calculates… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.4, pp. 825-852, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014806

Abstract Boiling heat transfer is a mode using the phase change of working medium to strengthen the heat exchange due to its good heat exchange capability, and it is widely used in heat exchange engineering. Nanofluids have been used in the direction of enhanced heat transfer for their superior thermophysical property. The wetting, spreading and ripple phenomena of superhydrophobic surfaces widely exist in nature and daily life. It has great application value for engineering technology. In this article, the boiling heat exchange characteristics of nanofluids on superhydrophobic surface are numerically studied. It was found that with the increase of superheating degree,… More >

Multi-Object Detection of Chinese License Plate in Complex Scenes

    Dan Liu1,3, Yajuan Wu1, Yuxin He2, Lu Qin2, Bochuan Zheng2,3,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 145-156, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014646

Abstract Multi-license plate detection in complex scenes is still a challenging task because of multiple vehicle license plates with different sizes and classes in the images having complex background. The edge features of high-density distribution and the high curvature features of stroke turning of Chinese character are important signs to distinguish Chinese license plate from other objects. To accurately detect multiple vehicle license plates with different sizes and classes in complex scenes, a multi-object detection of Chinese license plate method based on improved YOLOv3 network was proposed in this research. The improvements include replacing the residual block of the YOLOv3 backbone… More >

    Shi-er Dong1, Yiqing He1,*, Jingya Dong2, Zhouyu Peng3, Guohua Fu3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.1, pp. 103-118, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.012362

Abstract Based on the analysis of the whole process of LNG spill on land, the research methods of LNG pool expansion and heavy gas diffusion are summarized and analyzed. This paper reviews the experimental and analytical work performed to data on spill of LNG. Specifically, experiments on the spill of LNG onshore, as well as experiments and numerical study on heavy gas dispersion. Pool boiling and turbulence model are described and discussed, as well as models used to predict dispersion. Although there have been significant progress in understanding the behavior of LNG spills, technical knowledge gaps to improve hazard prediction are… More >

Prediction of Melt Pool Dimension and Residual Stress Evolution with Thermodynamically-Consistent Phase Field and Consolidation Models during Re-Melting Process of SLM

    Kang-Hyun Lee1, Gun Jin Yun1,2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 87-112, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012688

Abstract Re-melting process has been utilized to mitigate the residual stress level in the selective laser melting (SLM) process in recent years. However, the complex consolidation mechanism of powder and the different material behavior after the first laser melting hinder the direct implementation of the re-melting process. In this work, the effects of re-melting on the temperature and residual stress evolution in the SLM process are investigated using a thermo-mechanically coupled finite element model. The degree of consolidation is incorporated in the energy balance equation based on the thermodynamically-consistent phase-field approach. The drastic change of material properties due to the variation… More >

Abstract The three-dimensional physical model of the randomly packed powder material irradiated by the laser beam was established, taking into account the transformation of the material phase, the melt spreading and the interaction of the free surface of the molten pool and the recoiling pressure caused by the material evaporation during the selective laser melting. Influence of the processing parameters on the thermal behavior, the material evaporation, the surface morphology and the densification behavior in the connection region of the molten pool and the substrate was studied. It was shown that the powder material underwent the transformation from the partial melting… More >

Predicting Human Mobility via Long Short-Term Patterns

Jianwei Chen, Jianbo Li*, Ying Li

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.3, pp. 847-864, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.010240

Abstract Predicting human mobility has great significance in Location based Social Network applications, while it is challenging due to the impact of historical mobility patterns and current trajectories. Among these challenges, historical patterns tend to be crucial in the prediction task. However, it is difficult to capture complex patterns from long historical trajectories. Motivated by recent success of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based methods, we propose a Union ConvGRU (UCG) Net, which can capture long short-term patterns of historical trajectories and sequential impact of current trajectories. Specifically, we first incorporate historical trajectories into hidden states by a shared-weight layer, and then utilize… More >

Abstract This paper presents a novel random controlled pool base differential evolution algorithm (RCPDE) where powerful mutation strategy and control parameter pools have been used. The mutation strategy pool contains mutations strategies having diverse parameter values, whereas the control parameter pool contains varying nature pairs of control parameter values. It has also been observed that with the addition of rarely used control parameter values in these pools are highly beneficial to enhance the performance of the DE algorithm. The proposed mutation strategy and control parameter pools improve the solution quality and the convergence speed of DE algorithm. The simulation results of… More >
