EFFECTS OF PHYSICOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS ON THE OPTIMIZED TOPOLOGY OF CATALYST IN MICRO REACTORS

Xun Liu, Li Chen* , Wen-Quan Tao

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-9, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.16

Abstract Fluid flow, mass transport and catalytic reaction in micro-reactors with catalyst are studied. Optimized structures of the catalyst generating the maximum reaction rate are explored by numerically solving the reactive transport processes combined with topology optimization schemes in COMSOL 5.3a. Effects of several physicochemical parameters including pressure drop, reaction rate constant, permeability of the porous catalyst and radius of the reactor are investigated. Distributions of the optimized structures, velocity, pressure and concentration are discussed in detail. Results show that the four physicochemical parameters have significant effects on the optimized structures of the catalyst obtained, indicating that generally there does not… More >

ANALYSIS OF ARRHENIUS ACTIVATION ENERGY IN ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTING CASSON FLUID FLOW INDUCED DUE TO PERMEABLE ELONGATED SHEET WITH CHEMICAL REACTION AND VISCOUS DISSIPATION

    N. Vijayaa,*, S. M. Arifuzzamanb, N. Raghavendra Saic, Ch. Manikya Raod

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.15, pp. 1-9, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.15.26

Abstract The upfront intension of this study is to explore the advances in electrically conducting Casson fluid induced due to a porous elongated surface taking Arrhenius activation energy, viscous dissipation and joule heating into account. Uniform magnetic and electric fields are imposed on the given flow. Variables of similarity are induced to transmute partial differential equations into dimensionless equations and resolved numerically by elegant method bvp4c. To scrutinize the behavior of critical parameters on flow configurations graphs and table are portrayed. From graphical moments, it is analyzed that velocity of the liquid diminish for advanced values of non-Newtonian rheology parameter, magnetic… More >

Structure and Combustion Characteristics of Methane/Air Premixed Flame under the Action of Wall

Feiyang Li, Jianfeng Pan*, Chenxin Zhang, Evans K. Quaye, Xia Shao

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.4, pp. 1135-1154, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014366

Abstract In order to obtain the combustion characteristics of the CH4/Air premixed flame under the action of the wall interaction, a study on the impact of the jet flame on the wall at different separation distances was carried out. The separation distance from the burner outlet to the lower surface of the wall is changed and the flame structure is obtained through experiments. The temperature, velocity and reaction rate are obtained through numerical simulation, and the law of flame characteristics change is obtained through analysis. The results show that as the separation distance increases, the premixing cone inside the flame gradually… More >
