    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.84, No.3, pp. 5133-5156, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.065840 - 30 July 2025

Abstract Cloud computing has become an essential technology for the management and processing of large datasets, offering scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance. However, optimizing data replication across multiple data centers poses a significant challenge, especially when balancing opposing goals such as latency, storage costs, energy consumption, and network efficiency. This study introduces a novel Dynamic Optimization Algorithm called Dynamic Multi-Objective Gannet Optimization (DMGO), designed to enhance data replication efficiency in cloud environments. Unlike traditional static replication systems, DMGO adapts dynamically to variations in network conditions, system demand, and resource availability. The approach utilizes multi-objective optimization More >

A Collaborative Broadcast Content Recording System Using Distributed Personal Video Recorders

    Eunsam Kim1, Choonhwa Lee2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.82, No.2, pp. 2555-2581, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.059682 - 17 February 2025

Abstract Personal video recorders (PVRs) have altered the way users consume television (TV) content by allowing users to record programs and watch them at their convenience, overcoming the constraints of live broadcasting. However, standalone PVRs are limited by their individual storage capacities, restricting the number of programs they can store. While online catch-up TV services such as Hulu and Netflix mitigate this limitation by offering on-demand access to broadcast programs shortly after their initial broadcast, they require substantial storage and network resources, leading to significant infrastructural costs for service providers. To address these challenges, we propose… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.6, pp. 1021-1030, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.048919 - 23 May 2024

Abstract Background: Apolipoprotein B mRNA editing catalytic polypeptide (APOBEC), an endogenous mutator, induces DNA damage and activates the ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related (ATR)-checkpoint kinase 1 (Chk1) pathway. Although cisplatin-based therapy is the mainstay for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), it has a poor survival rate. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of an ATR inhibitor combined with cisplatin in the treatment of APOBEC catalytic subunit 3B (APOBEC3B) expressing MIBC. Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was performed to analyze an association between APOBEC3B and ATR in patients with MIBC. The APOBEC3B expression in MIBC cell lines was assessed… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2217-2232, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.033703 - 05 January 2023

Abstract The reliability and availability of cloud systems have become major concerns of service providers, brokers, and end-users. Therefore, studying fault-tolerance mechanisms in cloud computing attracts intense attention in industry and academia. The task-scheduling mechanisms can improve the fault-tolerance level of cloud systems. A task-scheduling mechanism distributes tasks to a group of instances to be executed. Much work has been undertaken in this direction to improve the overall outcome of cloud computing, such as improving service quality and reducing power consumption. However, little work on task scheduling has studied the problem of lost tasks from the… More >

    H. L. Chandrakala1,*, R. Loganathan2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 3151-3164, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.027873 - 21 December 2022

Abstract Most social networks allow connections amongst many people based on shared interests. Social networks have to offer shared data like videos, photos with minimum latency to the group, which could be challenging as the storage cost has to be minimized and hence entire data replication is not a solution. The replication of data across a network of read-intensive can potentially lead to increased savings in cost and energy and reduce the end-user’s response time. Though simple and adaptive replication strategies exist, the solution is non-deterministic; the replicas of the data need to be optimized to… More >

    M. Revathi, V. V. Ramalingam*, B. Amutha

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 3023-3036, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.033600 - 21 December 2022

Abstract The impact of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on Software Defined Networks (SDN) is briefly analyzed. Many approaches to detecting DDoS attacks exist, varying on the feature being considered and the method used. Still, the methods have a deficiency in the performance of detecting DDoS attacks and mitigating them. To improve the performance of SDN, an efficient Real-time Multi-Constrained Adaptive Replication and Traffic Approximation Model (RMCARTAM) is sketched in this article. The RMCARTAM considers different parameters or constraints in running different controllers responsible for handling incoming packets. The model is designed with multiple… More >

Abstract Epstein–Barr virus (EBV)-encoded latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) plays an important oncogenic role in the viral latent infection. Recently, increasing evidence indicates that the high expression of LMP1 during EBV lytic cycle is related to the viral lytic replication. However, the mechanism by which LMP1 regulates EBV lytic replication remains unclear. (−)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) prevents carcinogenesis by directly targeting numerous membrane proteins and effectively inhibits EBV lytic cascade. Here, we demonstrated that LMP1 promotes EBV lytic replication through the downstream signal molecules MAPKs, including ERKs, p38, and JNKs. LMP1 induces the phosphorylation of p53 through MAPKs… More >
