    Hwa-Young Jang1, Sang-Jun Beon2, Sung-Hoon Kim1, In-Kyung Song1, Won-Jung Shin1,*

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 639-647, 2023, DOI:10.32604/chd.2023.030065

Abstract Objectives: We investigated whether the selective cerebral perfusion (SCP) technique causes differences in changes in cerebral perfusion between both hemispheres in young infants, using cerebral oxygen saturation (ScO2) as an index. Further, we determined the association between the discrepancy in ScO2 and cerebral perfusion pressure during SCP. Methods: The difference in ScO2 between the left and right cerebral hemispheres (ΔScO2 Rt-Lt) was calculated during clamping of the innominate artery (IA) and during SCP. Results: In 25 infants (aged 2 to 78 days), the left and right ScO2 were well maintained (median 63.2% and 60.9% during IA clamping, respectively; 64.0% and… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Assuming a reservoir with a typical salt-lake background in the Qaidam Basin as a testbed, in this study the variation law of the rock electrical parameters has been determined through water displacement experiments with different salinities. As made evident by the results, the saturation index increases with the degree of water injection. When the salinity of the injected water is lower than 80000 ppm, the resistivity of the rock sample first decreases, then it remains almost constant in an intermediate stage, and finally it grows, thereby giving rise to a ‘U’ profile behavior. As the salinity decreases, the water saturation… More > Graphic Abstract

CH. Mohan Sai Kumar*, R. S. Valarmathi

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 1711-1728, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.038113

Abstract Image dehazing is a rapidly progressing research concept to enhance image contrast and resolution in computer vision applications. Owing to severe air dispersion, fog, and haze over the environment, hazy images pose specific challenges during information retrieval. With the advances in the learning theory, most of the learning-based techniques, in particular, deep neural networks are used for single-image dehazing. The existing approaches are extremely computationally complex, and the dehazed images are suffered from color distortion caused by the over-saturation and pseudo-shadow phenomenon. However, the slow convergence rate during training and haze residual is the two demerits in the conventional image… More >

Experimental Study on the Influence of Fracturing Fluid Retention on Shale Gas Diffusion Law

    Zhiyuan Yao1,2,3, Jing Sun1,2,3,*, Dehua Liu1,2,3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.8, pp. 1853-1866, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025846

Abstract Shale gas reservoirs have poor physical properties and a large number of micro-nano pores have been developed. Shale gas wells have no natural productivity and need fracturing reconstruction measures to put into production. However, the fracturing fluid will enter the reservoir space of shale matrix after fracturing and affect the production of shale gas. At present, there is no consensus on the influence of fracturing fluid retention on gas well production. Based on this, the paper adopts gas molecular transport analyzer to carry out experimental research on the influence of fracturing fluid on shale gas diffusion law after entering matrix… More >

    Wei Chen1,*, Wenhao Zhao1, Yue Liang1, Frederic Skoczylas2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.9, pp. 2417-2430, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.030028

Abstract The design of an underground nuclear waste disposal requires a full characterization of concrete under various thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical conditions. This experimental work studied the characterization of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical effects using concretes made with cement CEM I or CEM V/A (according to European norms). Uniaxial and triaxial compression under 5 MPa confining pressure tests were performed under three different temperatures (T = 20°C, 50°C, and 80°C). The two concretes were dried under relative humidity (RH) to obtain a partially saturated state of approximately 70%. The results showed that the effects of water saturation and confining pressure are more important than that of… More >

    Zhao Yu1,2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1521-1534, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.023296

Abstract Oil saturation is a critical parameter when designing oil field development plans. This study focuses on the change of oil saturation during water flooding. Particularly, a meter-level artificial model is used to conduct relevant experiments on the basis of similarity principles and taking into account the layer geological characteristics of the reservoir. The displacement experiment’s total recovery rate is 41.35%. The changes in the remaining oil saturation at a millimeter-scale are examined using medical spiral computer tomography principles. In all experimental stages, regions exists where the oil saturation decline is more than 10.0%. The shrinkage percentage is 20.70% in the… More >

    Mrityunjoy Gain1, Md Arifur Rahman1, Rameswar Debnath1, Mrim M. Alnfiai2, Abdullah Sheikh3, Mehedi Masud3, Anupam Kumar Bairagi1,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1059-1077, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034809

Abstract Colorization is the practice of adding appropriate chromatic values to monochrome photographs or videos. A real-valued luminance image can be mapped to a three-dimensional color image. However, it is a severely ill-defined problem and not has a single solution. In this paper, an encoder-decoder Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model is used for colorizing gray images where the encoder is a Densely Connected Convolutional Network (DenseNet) and the decoder is a conventional CNN. The DenseNet extracts image features from gray images and the conventional CNN outputs a * b * color channels. Due to a large number of desaturated color components compared to saturated… More >

Rishi Dewan1, Adarsh Kumar2, Mohammad Khalid Imam Rahmani3, Surbhi Bhatia4, Md Ezaz Ahmed3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 5761-5776, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024762

Abstract Water injection has shown to be one of the most successful, efficient, and cost-effective reservoir management strategies. By re-injecting treated and filtered water into reservoirs, this approach can help maintain reservoir pressure, increase hydrocarbon output, and reduce the environmental effect. The goal of this project is to create a water injection model utilizing Eclipse reservoir simulation software to better understand water injection methods for reservoir pressure maintenance. A basic reservoir model is utilized in this investigation. For simulation designs, the reservoir length, breadth, and thickness may be changed to different levels. The water-oil contact was discovered at 7000 feet, and the… More >

    Y. A. Amer1, A. T. EL-Sayed2, M. N. Abd EL-Salam3,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.56, No.2, pp. 89-104, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sv.2022.011838

Abstract In our consideration, a comparison between four different types of controllers for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever beam excited by an external force is carried out. Those four types are the linear velocity feedback control, the cubic velocity feedback control, the non-linear saturation controller (NSC) and the positive position feedback (PPF) controller. The suitable type is the PPF controller for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever beam. The approximate solution obtained up to the first approximation by using the multiple scale method. The PPF controller effectiveness is studied on the system. We used frequency-response equations to investigate the stability… More >

    M. N. Tarhuni1,*, W. R. Sulaiman1, M. Z. Jaafar1, K. M. Sabil2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 253-273, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.017820

Abstract The X field is located in the southwestern part of block NX89 of Kentan Basin in Libya. This field is produced from Hailan multilayer consolidated sandstone with moderate rock property and a relatively low energy supplying. The reserve of subsurface energy sources is declining with years. Therefore, techniques were combined to achieve the energy optimization and increase hydrocarbon recovery. In order to understand the subsurface formation of the reservoir and facilitate oil production, global hydraulic element technique was used to quantify the reservoir rock types. In addition, stratigraphic modified Lorenz plot was used for reservoir layering. Reservoir heterogeneity was identified… More >
