    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.40, No.1-2, pp. 93-103, 2023, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2023.40.1-2.8

Abstract Polymer composites are increasing in demand in energy storage applications including in the electronic as well as electrical industries due to the ease of processing of these materials with associated advantages like light weight, corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength. In this investigation, efforts are made to enhance the charging and discharging properties of epoxy/carbon fabric composite by the addition of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) into the epoxy/ carbon matrix. The performance of the composites with graphene platelets of 0.5 to 5 wt. % in epoxy were characterized and 1wt.% percolation threshold was observed poor performance in gravimetric charge and discharge… More >

    Liang Wen1,2,*, Changhong Yan3, Yehui Shi4, Zhenxiang Wang4, Gang Liu4, Wei Shi4

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.10, pp. 3681-3692, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.027671

Abstract The treatment of wheat straw is very difficult, and its utilization rate is very low; accumulation causes air pollution and even fire. To make full use of wheat straw resources, we examined how using different physical and chemical methods to treat the wheat straw which can improve its strength abilities, or enhance the activity of wheat straw ash. In terms of concrete additives, it can reduce the amount of cement used. In this paper, we found that alkali treatment can significantly improve the tensile strength of wheat straw fiber, but polyvinyl alcohol treatment has no obvious effect on the strength… More > Graphic Abstract

Experimental Investigation of Performance Characteristics of PZT-5A with Application to Fault Diagnosis

    Saqlain Abbas1,2, Zulkarnain Abbas3,4,*, Yanping Zhu2, Waqas Tariq Toor5, Xiaotong Tu6

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.16, No.4, pp. 307-321, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.015266

Abstract In the previous couple of decades, techniques to reap energy and empower low voltage electronic devices have received outstanding attention. Most of the methods based on the piezoelectric effect to harvest the energy from ambient vibrations have been revolutionized. There’s an absence of experiment-based investigation which incorporates the microstructure analysis and crystal morphology of those energy harvest home materials. Moreover, the impact of variable mechanical and thermal load conditions has seldom been studied within the previous literature to utilize the effectiveness of those materials in several practical applications like structural health monitoring (SHM), etc. In the proposed research work, scanning… More >

Seasonal variations in the heterologous binding of viscacha spermatozoa. A scanning electron microscope study

CLAUDIA AGUILERA MERLO, ESTELA MUÑOZ, SUSANA DOMINGUEZ, MABEL FÓSCOLO*, LUIS SCARDAPANE, JUAN CARLOS DE ROSAS*

    BIOCELL, Vol.29, No.3, pp. 243-251, 2005, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2005.29.243

Abstract Seasonal changes in the reproductive activity of the adult male viscacha (Lagostomus maximus maximus) were investigated during the annual reproductive cycle. Assays of heterologous in vitro binding between compatible gametes were used to evaluate the ability of viscacha spermatozoa to achieve primary binding during its annual reproductive cycle. Sperm were collected by mincing cauda epididymis in HECM-3 medium and the sperm concentration and motility were evaluated. Cumulus-free and zona-free oocytes obtained from superovulated hamsters were inseminated in vitro with capacitated sperm suspensions, incubated at 37ºC, 5% CO2 for 3 h, and then processed for studies by scanning electronic microscopy. Statistical… More >
