    Abstract In the present work we study numerical computations of inverse thermal stress problems. The unknown boundary conditions of an elastically deformable heat conducting rod are not given a priori and are not allowed to measure directly, because the boundary may be not accessible to measure.     The Lie-Group Shooting Method for Solving Classical Blasius Flat-Plate Problem

    Abstract In this paper, we propose a Lie-group shooting method to deal with the classical Blasius flat-plate problem and to find unknown initial conditions. The pivotal point is based on the erection of a one-step Lie group element$\mathbf G(T) and the formation of a generalized mid-point Lie group element$\mathbf G(r). Then, by imposing G(T) = G(r) we can derive some algebraic equations to recover the missing initial conditions.     Abstract By using a quasi-boundary regularization we can formulate a two-point boundary value problem of the backward heat conduction equation. The ill-posed problem is analyzed by using the semi-discretization numerical schemes.     Abstract This paper studies the numerical computations of the second-order singularly perturbed boundary value problems (SPBVPs). In order to depress the singularity we consider a coordinate transformation from the x-domain to the t-domain. The relation between singularity and stiffness is demonstrated, of which the coordinate transformation parameter λ plays a key role to balance these two tendencies.     Abstract Callus growth and plant regeneration from long-term callus cultures were studied in two elite clones of Asparagus officinalis cv. Argenteuil, to establish a suitable protocol for a prospective in vitro selection program. Callus initiation and growth was evaluated on MS medium with 3% sucrose, 0.9% agar, 1 mg.l-1 kinetin, and three levels of 2,4-D.     Abstract An efficient clonal propagation procedure for six rice varieties cultivated in Argentina was developed by using shoot tip cultures, and the genetic stability of the micropropagated plants was verified by isozyme analysis. One week old seedlings obtained on MS medium were sectioned and subcultured on MS medium (0.75% agar) supplemented with different combination and concentrations of cytokinins (BAP and KIN) and auxins (2,4-D and NAA).
