A Sensor-less Surface Mounted PMSM for Electronic Speed Control in Multilevel Inverter

    S. Dinesh Kumar1,*, A. Jagadeeshwaran2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2201-2215, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027467

Abstract Recent advancements in power electronics technology evolves inverter fed electric motors. Speed signals and rotor position are essential for controlling an electric motor accurately. In this paper, the sensorless speed control of surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) has been attempted. SPMSM wants a digital inverter for its precise working. Hence, this study incorporates fifteen level inverter to the SPMSM. A sliding mode observer (SMO) based sensorless speed control scheme is projected to determine rotor spot and speed of the multilevel inverter (MLI) fed SPMSM. MLI has been operated using a multi carrier pulse width modulation (MCPWM) strategy for generation… More >

    Smarajit Ghosh*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2391-2404, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028931

Abstract In the field of fault tolerance estimation, the increasing attention in electrical motors is the fault detection and diagnosis. The tasks performed by these machines are progressively complex and the enhancements are likewise looked for in the field of fault diagnosis. It has now turned out to be essential to diagnose faults at their very inception; as unscheduled machine downtime can upset deadlines and cause heavy financial burden. In this paper, fault diagnosis and speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is proposed. Elman Neural Network (ENN) is used to diagnose the fault of permanent magnet synchronous motor. Both… More >

Performance Analysis of Optimization Based FOC and DTC Methods for Three Phase Induction Motor

    V. Jesus Bobin*, M. MarsalineBeno

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 2493-2511, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.024679

Abstract Three-phase induction motors are becoming increasingly utilized in industrial field due to their better efficiency and simple manufacture. The speed control of an induction motor is essential in a variety of applications, but it is difficult to control. This research analyses the three-phase induction motor’s performance using field-oriented control (FOC) and direct torque control (DTC) techniques. The major aim of this work is to provide a critical evaluation of developing a simple speed controller for induction motors with improving the performance of Induction Motor (IM). For controlling a motor, different optimization approaches are accessible; in this research, a Fuzzy Logic… More >

Hybrid Sensorless Speed Control Technique for BLDC Motor Using ANFIS Automation

    S. S. Selva Pradeep*, M. Marsaline Beno

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1757-1770, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023470

Abstract The Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motors have shown to be a cost-effective alternative to traditional motors. The smooth and efficient operation of the BLDC motor is dependent on speed regulation. This research proposes a sensorless intelligent speed control technique for BLDC using an Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) based Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm. The motor’s back EMF is measured, and ANFIS is used to generate Hall signals. The ABC is then utilized to provide the pulses needed for the three-phase inverter, avoiding the requirement of logic gate circuits. The input DC voltage to the inverter is controlled by… More >

Interleaved Boost Integrated Flyback Converter for Power Factor Correction in Brushless DC Motor Drive

    S. Benisha1,*, J. Anitha Roseline2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1363-1378, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023012

Abstract The scope of this research is to manage the speed of Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor Drive (PMBLDCMD) for various less capacity applications. In the circuit, a 1ϕ AC power is given to Diode Rectifier and the converted DC supply is given to condenser, which leads to abnormal pulsating current. Because of this pulsating current, the power quality disturbances arise at the supply point. Hence, the PMBLDCMD requires Power Factor Correction (PFC) converter for many household and profitable applications. The rotors of PMBLDCMD are driven by 3ϕ voltage source inverter (VSI), which performs electronic commutation. The range of PFC converter… More >

Speed Control of Motor Based on Improved Glowworm Swarm Optimization

    Zhenzhou Wang1, Yan Zhang1, Pingping Yu1,*, Ning Cao2, Heiner Dintera3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 503-519, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017624

Abstract To better regulate the speed of brushless DC motors, an improved algorithm based on the original Glowworm Swarm Optimization is proposed. The proposed algorithm solves the problems of poor robustness, slow convergence, and low accuracy exhibited by traditional PID controllers. When selecting the glowworm neighborhood set, an optimization scheme based on the growth and competition behavior of weeds is applied to a single glowworm to prevent falling into a local optimal solution. After the glowworm’s position is updated, the league selection operator is introduced to search for the global optimal solution. Combining the local search ability of the invasive weed… More >
