    Iskandar Waini1,2, Anuar Ishak2,*, Ioan Pop3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3255-3269, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017643 - 06 May 2021

Abstract This study examines the stagnation point flow over a stretching/shrinking sheet in a hybrid nanofluid with homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions. The hybrid nanofluid consists of copper (Cu) and alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles which are added into water to form Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid. The similarity equations are obtained using a similarity transformation. Then, the function bvp4c in MATLAB is utilised to obtain the numerical results. The dual solutions are found for limited values of the stretching/shrinking parameter. Also, the turning point arises in the shrinking region (λ < 0). Besides, the presence of hybrid nanoparticles enhances the heat transfer rate,… More >

    N. Vijaya1, G. Venkata Ramana Reddy1, *, Y. Hara Krishna1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.3, pp. 233-251, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.03727

Abstract This paper investigates the problem of oblique hydro magnetic stagnation point flow of an electrically conducting Casson fluid over stretching sheet embedded in a doubly stratified medium in the presence of thermal radiation and heat source/absorption with first order chemical reaction. It is assumed that the fluid impinges on the wall obliquely. Similarity variables were used to convert the partial differential equations to ordinary differential equations. The transformed ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method with shooting technique. It is observed that a boundary layer is formed when the stretching velocity of the… More >

Stagnation Point Flow Over a Permeable Stretching/Shrinking Sheet with Chemical Reaction and Heat Source/Sink

    Izyan Syazana Awaludin1, 2, Anuar Ishak2,*, Ioan Pop3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 203-214, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.06594

Abstract The present study considers the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stagnation point flow with chemical reaction effect over a permeable stretching/shrinking sheet. The partial differential equations are reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations using a similarity transformation. The transformed equations are then solved numerically by employing the bvp4c function available in the MATLAB software. The numerical results illustrate the effects of several parameters on the skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number and the local Sherwood number. Dual solutions are obtained for a certain range of parameters. The temporal stability analysis is carried out to determine which More >

    G. Vinod Kumar, R. V. M. S. S. Kiran Kumar* , S. V. K. Varma

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.10, pp. 1-8, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.10.23

Abstract The steady boundary layer stagnation flow of a Casson fluid over a stretching sheet with slips boundary conditions in the presence of viscous dissipation, Joule heating and the first order destructive chemical reaction is analyzed. The governing flow problem is based on momentum equation, energy equation, and mass diffusion equation and these are further simplified with the help of similarity transformations. The reduced, resulting highly nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations are solved using the Matlab bvp4c package. The effects of various parameters on the dimensionless velocity, temperature, and concentration as well as on the skin More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.8, pp. 1-11, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.8.24

Abstract We report on a mathematical model for analyzing the effects of homogeneous-heterogeneous chemical reaction and slip velocity on the MHD stagnation point flow of electrically conducting micropolar fluid over a stretching/shrinking surface embedded in a porous medium. The governing boundary layer coupled partial differential equations are transformed into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations, which are solved numerically using the MATLAB bvp4c solver. The effects of physical and fluid parameters such as the stretching parameter, micropolar parameter, permeability parameter, strength of homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction parameter on the velocity and concentration are analyzed, and More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-7, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.19

Abstract In this paper the steady laminar magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection boundary layer flow towards a vertical stretching sheet with variable fluid viscosity, radiation and in the presence of Dufour’s effect have been investigated. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into set of ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation, and then these equations have been solved numerically using Runge- Kutta method with shooting technique. Results shows that magnitude of skin friction coefficient decreases, while magnitude of heat transfer coefficient and mass transfer coefficient increases with decreasing values of viscosity variation parameter for the case More >
