    Osama S. Faragallah1,*, Ahmed I. Sallam2, Hala S. El-sayed3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 177-190, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019348 - 03 September 2021

Abstract The dissemination of the COVID-19 viruses now extends the usage of video consultations to share perspectives and virtual medical consultations, save expenses and health procedures, track the success of care proposals with detail, consistency, and ease from moment to time. The research aims to study the security of video consultations. We will also present the advantages and disadvantages of video consultations and the complications of their implementation. This paper mainly proposes a practical, high-efficiency video encoding technique for the new video encoding technique (HEVC) used in video consultations. The technology offered uses the RC5 block… More >

Survey of COVID-19 impact on pediatric urology services

    Sheila Mallenahalli1, Matthew Fifolt2, Mohan Gundeti3, Yegappan Lakshmanan4, Patricio Gargollo5, Michael C. Ost6, Pankaj P. Dangle7

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.28, No.5, pp. 10834-10840, 2021

Abstract Introduction: To better understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has forced rapid operational changes in the global healthcare industry, changes implemented on an individual, institutional basis must be considered. There currently is not adequate literature about the overall impact COVID-19 has had on pediatric urology services worldwide. We believe that they have dramatically decreased during the COVID-19 crisis, but have adapted to accommodate changes. We hypothesize that patient care was widely variant due to inadequate standardized recommendations or crisis planning.
Materials and methods: A web-based survey was deployed to 377 pediatric urologists globally via email to analyze COVID-19’s… More >

Development of a Web-Based Telemedicine System for Covid-19 Patients

    Morshedul Bari Antor1, A. H. M. Shafayet Jamil1, Maliha Mamtaz1, Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan1,*, Sultan S. Alshamrani2, Mehedi Masud3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.3, pp. 899-915, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018914 - 20 August 2021

Abstract In the Covid-19 pandemic, people have been very concerned about the safety and are avoiding crowded places like hospitals. An online telemedicine web-based technology can help to overcome this situation. This paper presents an online telemedicine system that helps to promote collaboration between doctors, hospitals, and patients. The system allows doctors to serve patients from remote areas. The system also allows both doctors and patients to communicate through video calls or text messages. Patients using the system can store information about their health, search for doctors, and consult medical professionals using text messages and video More >

Steganography-Based Transmission of Medical Images Over Unsecure Network for Telemedicine Applications

    Romany F. Mansour1,*, Moheb R. Girgis2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 4069-4085, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017064 - 06 May 2021

Abstract Steganography is one of the best techniques to hide secret data. Several steganography methods are available that use an image as a cover object, which is called image steganography. In image steganography, the major features are the cover object quality and hiding data capacity. Due to poor image quality, attackers could easily hack the secret data. Therefore, the hidden data quantity should be improved, while keeping stego-image quality high. The main aim of this study is combining several steganography techniques, for secure transmission of data without leakage and unauthorized access. In this paper, a technique,… More >

    Tele-COVID: A Telemedicine SOA-Based Architectural Design for COVID-19 Patients

Asadullah Shaikh*, Mana Saleh AlReshan, Yousef Asiri, Adel Sulaiman, Hani Alshahrani

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 549-576, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014813 - 12 January 2021

Abstract In Wuhan, China, a novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) was detected in December 2019; it has changed the entire world and to date, the number of diagnosed cases is 38,756,2891 and 1,095,2161 people have died. This happened because a large number of people got affected and there is a lack of hospitals for COVID-19 patients. One of the precautionary measures for COVID-19 patients is isolation. To support this, there is an urgent need for a platform that makes treatment possible from a distance. Telemedicine systems have been drastically increasing in number and size over recent years. Suitability of VVC and HEVC for Video Telehealth Systems

    Muhammad Arslan Usman1,4,*, Muhammad Rehan Usman2, Rizwan Ali Naqvi3, Bernie Mcphilips4, Christopher Romeika4, Daniel Cunliffe4, Christos Politis1, Nada Philip1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 529-547, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014614 - 12 January 2021

Abstract Video compression in medical video streaming is one of the key technologies associated with mobile healthcare. Seamless delivery of medical video streams over a resource constrained network emphasizes the need of a video codec that requires minimum bitrates and maintains high perceptual quality. This paper presents a comparative study between High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) and its potential successor Versatile Video Coding (VVC) in the context of healthcare. A large-scale subjective experiment comprising of twenty-four non-expert participants is presented for eight different test conditions in Full High Definition (FHD) videos. The presented analysis highlights the… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.12, No.4, pp. 491-496, 2017, DOI:10.1111/chd.12480

Abstract Background: Telemedicine is a rapidly evolving form of modern information and communication technology used to deliver clinical services and educational activities.
Objective: The aim of this article is to report and analyze our experience with transatlantic consultation via videoconferencing in pediatric cardiology.
Methods: In February, 2013, videoconferencing project was launched between a medium-volume pediatric cardiac center in Bratislava, Slovakia and subspecialty experts from a high-volume pediatric cardiac program at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA. During 1.5–2 hours videoconferences, 2–3 patients with similar complex clinical scenarios were presented to CHOP experts. The main goal of the project… More >
