Tamper Detection in Multimodal Biometric Templates Using Fragile Watermarking and Artificial Intelligence

Fatima Abu Siryeh*, Hussein Alrammahi, Abdullahi Abdu İbrahim

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.84, No.3, pp. 5021-5046, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.065206 - 30 July 2025

Abstract Biometric template protection is essential for finger-based authentication systems, as template tampering and adversarial attacks threaten the security. This paper proposes a DCT-based fragile watermarking scheme incorporating AI-based tamper detection to improve the integrity and robustness of finger authentication. The system was tested against NIST SD4 and Anguli fingerprint datasets, wherein 10,000 watermarked fingerprints were employed for training. The designed approach recorded a tamper detection rate of 98.3%, performing 3–6% better than current DCT, SVD, and DWT-based watermarking approaches. The false positive rate (≤1.2%) and false negative rate (≤1.5%) were much lower compared to previous… More >

Evaluating limited biopsy templates for men with markedly elevated PSAs

    Nikola C. Teslovich1, Peter Elliott2, Christopher S. Elliott2

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 11886-11891, 2024

Abstract Introduction: To define the smallest prostate needle biopsy (PNB) template necessary for accurate tissue diagnosis in men with markedly elevated PSA while decreasing procedural morbidity.
Materials and methods: We performed a chart review of 80 men presenting with a newly elevated PSA > 100 ng/mL who underwent biopsy (PNB or metastatic site). For patients who underwent a full 12-core biopsy, simulated templates of 2- to 10-cores were generated by randomly drawing subsets of biopsies from their full-template findings. Templates were iterated to randomize core location and generate theoretical smaller template outcomes. Simulated biopsy results were compared to… More >

Face Templates Encryption Technique Based on Random Projection and Deep Learning

    Mayada Tarek1,2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2049-2063, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.027139 - 01 August 2022

Abstract Cancellable biometrics is the solution for the trade-off between two concepts: Biometrics for Security and Security for Biometrics. The cancelable template is stored in the authentication system’s database rather than the original biometric data. In case of the database is compromised, it is easy for the template to be canceled and regenerated from the same biometric data. Recoverability of the cancelable template comes from the diversity of the cancelable transformation parameters (cancelable key). Therefore, the cancelable key must be secret to be used in the system authentication process as a second authentication factor in conjunction… More >

Mass-Stiffness Templates for Cubic Structural Elements

    Carlos A. Felippa*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.3, pp. 1209-1241, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016803 - 25 November 2021

Abstract This paper considers Lagrangian finite elements for structural dynamics constructed with cubic displacement shape functions. The method of templates is used to investigate the construction of accurate mass-stiffness pairs. This method introduces free parameters that can be adjusted to customize elements according to accuracy and rank-sufficiency criteria. One- and two-dimensional Lagrangian cubic elements with only translational degrees of freedom (DOF) carry two additional nodes on each side, herein called side nodes or SN. Although usually placed at the third-points, the SN location may be adjusted within geometric limits. The adjustment effect is studied in detail… More >
